I switched to Susan in the midst of a very contentious divorce when I was looking for an attorney who was both well respected and who would also advocate more aggressively for my rights in the process. I am very happy with Susan and her advocacy on my behalf. She has helped make a complicated divorce process more understandable, and has made me feel like I gained back some control - as opposed to simply responding to a conflict-oriented ex spouse. All in all she has helped me successfully move on with my life, which is what we all hope for when deciding to divorce. If you’re looking for an attorney who will be responsive, aggressive when necessary, and just an all around helpful person when it comes to this type of fraught process, then you won’t be disappointed with Susan.
Susan has provided legal services for me twice related to divorces. The first occurrence was a simple divorce that took the minimum required waiting period of 6 months. During this first encounter with Susan, she helped me to understand from a practical perspective that a divorce is simply a business transaction essentially devoid of emotion. She guided me through negotiating a settlement with my estranged husband providing the necessary professional legal oversight to ensure my goals were met. The divorce was finalized easily accomplishing the settlement that met my needs.
The second divorce was significantly more complicated and the actual legal action was contested at each available step in the process. Things were difficult from the beginning. Susan's expertise and practical approach were key to working through each phase of the legal wrangling even in advance of the formal filing of the divorce action. Timing and strategy were a significant part of the divorce action beginning with the timing of filing for divorce, which occurred as the negotiation of the Postnuptial Agreement were being occurring without antagonizing the defendant. Susan continually asked what my goals were specific to each phase of the on-going process. Upon understanding my goals, Susan always informed me of the law then advised me of my options. She allowed me to make decision and ensured I understood the impact and ramifications of my decisions. My estranged spouse would not sign in agreement of the divorce so I had to wait the required two years before filing the petition signifying that the wait period requirement was met. During the waiting period the Postnuptial Agreement was finalized. In addition to the divorce action, there was also a petition for child support for which Susan instructed me on how to prepare all necessary documents for the hearing. She also accompanied me to the hearing. Because of the advice Susan provided specific to the preparation for the hearing and her expert questioning of the defendant, I received a very favorable decision by the courts.
By this time, everything was settled, i.e. custody, child support, all financial concerns such that the last remaining action was the actual divorce. As previously stated, the divorce was contested at every opportunity simply based on disagreement of the irretrievability of the marriage. Once again Susan's expertise was key to maneuvering through all of the filings, the timing of the filings and eventually a hearing. The hearing is where I saw Susan's well-honed skills at there most impressive. She took dozens of communications between the defendant and me and gleaned relevant information contained in what seemed like minutia that completely supported the timeline I had put forth in my petition. Her examination of me while on the witness stand was masterful, meticulously laying out the time frame of my claims and providing supporting evidence of the defendant's knowledge of the timeline, which, because timing was integral to the required waiting period, it was critical to establish my timeline as well as the defendant's knowledge of it. It was Susan's knowledge of the law, court opinions and appeal issues that were helpful as the defendant, who was representing himself, cross examined me. She was judicious in her use of objections to avoid issues that would be relevant on appeal as we both realized that an appeal on a final decree was a distinct possibility. At the end of the hearing, the judge summarized what his final ruling was going to be. Afterward Susan took the time to explain to me the meaning and intent of the judge's comments in summary. Throughout a very difficult time, Susan made it manageable, always explaining the process, what to expect along the way and providing expertise that made me realize that I could not be in better hands. Susan helped me laugh occasionally throughout the process. I recommend Susan Grosh with enthusiasm!!!
I am trained in collaborative law in which the parties and their attorneys agree that they will not litigate the matter and instead turn their efforts towards working together to reach an agreed solution creating a "win-win" situation. It is a relatively new practice option with specific training requirements and does not even appear yet as a practice area in Avvo!

Wonderful
I was scared and nervous because I'm not a fighter. I didn't want to lose what I worked my whole life for. Susan was so patient and kind to me and she helped me understand all my rights. She fought for me when I had nobody else. She went above and beyond all that I asked of her. She was tough as nails as a lawyer but incredibly kind as a friend and confidant. I can't express my appreciation enough for her. She was in my corner from day 1 of a three year ordeal. Thank you Susan for all your work and dedication.

Moves very slow as bills mount up
Retained her as my wife filed for divorce, 5 months later i decided to leave and go elsewhere. She moves so slowly , waits forever to get response from other attorney, meanwhile the bills mount up to the tune of $15,000 with no settlement agreement in place . Her secretary i view as not competent at all, a view shared by other law firms and clients. I was never given detailed monthly bills, i.e. no specific time or rate for each task. my divorce is not complicated and i have heard from another Lanc. Attorney that his highest fee for a divorce was $8000. Her advice etc may be on point but her lack of aggressiveness and laid back approach will just run your bill up.
