David has been representing and defending the interests of the people of York County since 1998.

Prior to entering private practice in 2006, David was an Assistant District Attorney with the York County District Attorney's Office. David rose to the rank of Executive Deputy Prosecutor where he was responsible for overseeing the prosecution of all child abuse and domestic violence cases. David has tried approximately (60) cases as lead counsel to jury verdict and has handled a similar number of cases on appeal before the Superior Court of Pennsylvania. David has also successfully argued before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

David utilizes his experience as a prosecutor in advising and defending clients charged with a variety of crimes. David has extensive experience in handling DUI cases, having handled hundreds of DUI cases during his career.

David also utilizes his experience and understanding as a domestic violence and child abuse prosecutor in assisting his clients in divorce and child custody matters which involve such issues.

David is a 1993 graduate of Temple University. In 1996, David earned his Juris Doctor degree from Widener University School of Law in Wilmington, Delaware. While in law school, David was an Associate Editor for the Widener Law Symposium Journal (now the Widener Law Review) and a member of the Moe Levine Trial Advocacy Honor Society, serving as a Board Member in 1995-1996. David earned the American Jurisprudence Award for Criminal Law and was award the Judge J. Cullen Ganey Criminal Procedure Award at graduation for the highest grade point average for Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure among his graduating class.

David is admitted to the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Excellent lawyer!

I used Attorney Cook twice for custody matters. Both times he was an excellent comunicater and kept me up to date. As well, both times I received the results I was looking for. I would certainly recommend him for any family court related issues. If needed again he would be my first call.

best lawyer for father's rights

When we came to David Cook we hadn't seen my stepdaughter in three years as she was being uprooted and relocated secretly every time we turned around. With lack of help from the police and run around with the courts we came to Cook for help and he went above and beyond the call of duty. Not only did he look out for our best interest but the best interest of our daughter. She is now home where she belongs, done quickly, and stress-free at his hands. We can not express enough gratitude for his efforts and success in reuniting our family.

Knowledgeable about child custody law

Dave was awesome! I hired him in one of the lowest pouts of my life. My children were taken from me by my wife due to due to a chronic health problem. Dave was awesome in the court room. I have my children again! Hire Dave, Its one of the best decisions that I have made

Custody Case

David represented me a couple times in custody hearings in 2012 and 2013. He helped me retain majority custody of my child. As a man, he respected my bond with my child and became very knowledgeable with my child's needs and my needs. I have a profound respect for his abilities as an attorney and professionalism. He definitely works hard to know his clients well.

You couldnt ask for a better lawyer!

I recently used David cook for my custody case and he was the best you could ask for. Very well organized, made sure I was completely comfortable and prepared for being in the court room, made sure all of my witnesses were prepared and the fees were very reasonable. Legal terms, circumstances and the process can be quite confusing but David was able to make sure I could understand the entire process start to finish. The outcome after the trial was certainly in my favor and if I ever had to do it again I wouldn't use anyone other than David.

Responsive and a wealth of information

David was on the ball from day one with my custody case. He jumped right in and gave me the guidance I needed to gain custody of my daughter. I had so many questions for him and they were all answered immediately which was comforting in a stressful situation. He was also very honest and told me when certain things were unnecessary. As a result I now have the time that I deserve with my daughter.

Attorney Cook Put My Rapist Behind Bars

Attorney Cook prosecuted my rapist and as a result, the jury unanimously found him guilty of 7 out of 7 charges in less than 3 hours. Facing my rapist in court for a week long trial was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do, and the months prior to the trial were particularly difficult as well. My case was not black and white and wasn't necessarily a strong case; there were no injuries and no weapons used. Nevertheless, Attorney Cook treated me with respect and took his time making sure I understood the upcoming court procedures and the law. He did an unbelievable job pointing out important, incriminating details that the prosecutor following Attorney Cook failed to recognize. His confidence, undivided attention and support are what got me through the trial, and his knowledge, compassion and experience are what got my rapist a guilty verdict on 7 charges. He went above and beyond to make sure that my rapist got the punishment he deserved, while making the long, stressful court process as easy for me as possible. Attorney Cook is by far the best, most experienced and knowledgeable attorney that I have ever had the opportunity to work with and I would trust him to resolve any matter that I may come across.

Besides being a great lawyer he had our best interst at heart.

Going through a custody battle was one of the hardest things to go through in my life. Attorney David Cook from the day I spoke to him regarding my battle was passionate about my concerns. There was no question that I needed to retain him for my legal representation. For the 3+ months through the process Attorney Cook was diligent and driven. He addressed all of my concerns in a timely fashion and brought so much more to the plate than any other Attorney I have interacted with in the past. Worst Attorney ever

Attorney Cook never returns phone calls. I will never have him again as a Attorney. I happened to run into him at the court house and he basically just acted like he didnt even know who I was. I wish his license to be a Attorney could be taken from him
