It seemed like an easy case for them to win but the lawyer they assigned, George Mantangos, lost my trial. I think they are just riding the reputation of courtroom victories gone-by. I wanted to use my ...limited resources to appeal for a writ of habeas from the federal courts but the lawyer they sent recommended trial instead but then he lost. I would have been better off using the resources to petition for a writ of habeas at the federal level, which I originally wanted to do, and then just using the public defender for trial. Paid attorneys don't put a lot of work into your case and then they just cram the night before, like they are taking an exam. They are also unresponsive until it's too late. You could get an unresponsive public attorney for free.
