Joseph R. Williams is an associate attorney with Pollock Begg Komar Glasser & Vertz LLC. Prior to being admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in October 2009, he was a law clerk with the firm. As part of the Pollock Begg team, Joseph lends his expertise litigating complex financial and custody cases.
Joseph is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and Allegheny County Bar Association. In 2010, he was selected as one of 15 young lawyers in Allegheny County to participate in the Bar Leadership Initiative 2010-11 Class. Joseph has rapidly risen within the ranks of both the Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Bar associations and remains active in his alma mater, Duquesne University, where he serves on the Duquesne Law Alumni Association Board of Directors. Through the PBA he has served as the Zone 12 delegate on the Young Lawyers Division Executive Council. Through the ACBA, Joseph is an active member of the Family Law Section and was elected to a three-year term on the Family Law Section Council for 2011-14. In 2013, Joseph was elected to serve as the ACBA Young Lawyers Division chair, just following his service on the YLD Council from 2011-13. Additionally, Joseph serves on the ACBA YLD Member Services and Public Services committees.
Joseph has written articles in various publications. In 2008, he authored the alimony case law update for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute’s General Practitioners Update. In 2010, he authored the support case law update for the Allegheny County Bar Association Bench and Bar Conference Family Division Sound-Off. Recently, he was featured as a case note contributor to the Pennsylvania Family Lawyer and spoke at the 2012 Pennsylvania Bar Association Family Law Summer Meeting in Hershey on the Support Case Law Updates. In his 2012 article, “The Art of Balancing Work for Multiple Partners,” in the Legal Intelligencer, he discusses challenges and recommendations for new attorneys entering law firms. Read more (PDF)
Joseph’s active professional career has garnered him recognition as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Rising Star in both 2012 and 2013. He also currently serves as a high school competitive mock trial team coach for CAPA in Pittsburgh.
Joseph received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Bethany College in 2006. He received his juris doctorate from the Duquesne University School of Law in June 2009.
While in law school, Joseph was a semi-finalist in the Carol Los Mansmann Appellate Moot Court Competition at Duquesne University School of Law. He also served as a staff writer for Juris, Duquesne's award winning legal magazine.

If you have a divorce or custody situation, you MUST retain this guy. I had two very bad experiences with family law attorneys (had never hired one before) and Joe completely turned my case around. I always had a negative view of attorneys.
