I joined Black, Lyle & Habberfield, LLP as an Associate attorney in 2008.  I was made equity Partner there in April of 2011. Prior to being an attorney I was a Diagnostic Technician with Mercedes-Benz.  I am from Scio, New York and a Scio Central School Graduate. I obtained my Bachelor of Science Degree from the State University of New York at Brockport and graduated cum laude from law school at the State University of New York at Buffalo.  I am admitted to practice law in both New York and Pennsylvania. 

 

I am a member of the American Association for Justice, New York State Trial Lawyers Association, New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers, Allegany County Bar Association (Pro Bono Committee), Cattaraugus County Bar Association (Continuing Legal Education Committee, Secretary/Treasurer 2012, Vice-President 2013, President 2014, Immediate Past President 2015), the University of Buffalo Alumni Association, New York State Bar Association (2012 - 2014 House of Delegates Representative - 8th Judicial District), Pennsylvania Association of Justice, Pennsylvania Bar Association as well as the American Bar Association.

 

Currently I reside in Hamburg, New York with my wife Melissa and our triplet daughters, Peyton, Reese and Mika. I am a member of the Board of Directors of the SPCA Serving Allegany County, a past member of the Board of Directors of the Wellsville Country Club, a member of the Board of Directors of the Cattaraugus County United Way (Vice-President 2012, President 2013-2014, Immediate Past President 2015) and I am active in volunteering with the Saint Bonaventure University Mock Trial program. 

 

In my free time I play soccer, basketball, and as much golf as possible. I enjoy many outdoor activities and exercise as much as I can. I handle personal injury, civil litigation and insurance matters in New York and Pennsylvania.

I highly recommend Kevin Habberfield
After I was told by other lawyers that I did not have a case, Kevin Habberfield from Black, Lyle and Habberfield believed that I did have a case. He told me that I had a difficult case, but he believed that I had a winnable case. Kevin was upfront and honest with me right from the beginning. He always kept me notified throughout my entire case and he promptly returned my phone calls and emails whenever I had questions. He even came to my home to meet with me on a few occasions to accommodate my schedule. Kevin also has a great staff working alongside of him. I have spoke to several of them on the phone and they were all very knowledgeable and professional. Kevin has proved that he is a great lawyer by taking on my difficult case and obtaining a settlement in my favor. Kevin was invaluable
Kevin was invaluable in helping me finally obtain a settlement, where my previous attorney completely failed through inaction. Kevin possesses all of the assets necessary for success; knowledge and skill, but also honor, dignity, sincerity and a dedication to the client's case.
