Not a strong lawyer

Pros: Kind, listens without interrupting, respectful, very calm, relaxed energy, non-intimidating, provides cell phone number, Sarcastic- kind of annoying but harmless and funny. She knows the law. On time to court. Cons: not as organized as I would like her to be, gets distracted quickly, you ha...ve to really be on her, she's not an attorney that's going to do everything for you if you're not taking the initiative to follow up and push her to do that she said she would. She's forgetful. I feel She does try- but she clearly has alot on her plate and she needs to try harder, I think she may have some ADHD or Idk, she's a bit all over the place. She talks really fast which I enjoy bc I'm the same way but the judge and the clerks constantly tell her to slow down which is annoying. She gets overwhelmed and really pink quickly. She needs to argue better, more effectively, more assertively- she's too soft and arguments are very weak and she uses words like "can we do" or "my client feels" it's just weak, If I wanted to talk about how I feel I would've represented myself. She says things that are irrelevant, like I would tell her "well this weekend didn't go too bad" and she'll mention that to the court. I found that to be dumb and counter productive. She also downplays a lot of things that are serious to me as a parent. She's Spaced out half the time. Worst of all, I gave her a hug at the end (because ik I stressed her out, I'm very pushy) and she had the most disgusted look on her face as I hugged her. She's weird. She also doesn't call you back. She'll email or text when she gets around to it.

Waste of time

I was appointed Ms.Kovalsky for family violence and modifying custody order. Ms. Kovalsky would not return my calls or emails. She would call me a few minutes before our Zoom conference and ask if anything was new or resolved. I would tell her about my issue and state what I would like her to ask the... Judge. She would provide incorrect information and would not admit she was wrong. When I saw Ms.Kovalsky in person, it would be for a few minutes, and in the conversation, she would drift off to something else. This interchange has happened a few times. I don't know if she has a medical issue, but it was very frustrating. I would suggest anyone who has her as a court-appointed attorney to request a new attorney or to hit the law books. I wouldn't recommend her to handle a parking ticket.

Terrific Attirney

Don’t let her height fool you, Ms. Kovalsky is a beast in the court room. She fought very hard on my behalf and got me just about everything I could have hoped to get. It was a tough case, not easy to win, but she got me what she could, most everything I asked for. She’s smart, she’s tough. Outstandi...ng experience for me, I highly recommend.

Truly dedicated!

Ms Kovalsky met with me many times and fought very hard on my behalf. I have had a few public defenders, but seldom have I had one who really seemed to care about me and my case! I highly recommend ms Kovalsky! You will be lucky to have her assigned to your case. Thanks, Shaina!

Family Court

Shaina Kovalsky never returns emails or phone calls. She often makes excuses to way she hasn't replied or touched bases with her clients. Shania is a weak lawyer. She isn't good at speaking on behave of her clients. She has sided with the opposing lawyers to avoid doing her job. When she is frustrate...d she has a hard time keeping herself together. She bullies her clients into settling after its made clear that's not what they want. She lies to her clients face then tells the judge something totally different. Seven months of my time was wasted using her has a lawyer. CPS was involved in this case and all the evidence was provided to her to win my case and she folded because she didn't want to do her job. She often said trial was pointless when my child was being mistreated, neglected and abused. I lost wages and now have to return to court with a new lawyer to do what she should have done. She didn't think about my child or his best interest. Toward the end it appeared her and the other lawyer may have had something going on between them. Both parties missed a court date due to miscommunication and she blamed the courts for her not contacting me. When I wouldn't agree what she and the opposing lawyer wanted she stood in court and lied. Since court she has not provided documentation she was suppose to draw up and email. I have called her for about a month now with no responses. She is not professional. She is horrible at her job and truly needs to rethink her career choice. Families are in danger if she is representing them. The importance of family is meaningless to her. She doesn't understand what it is to be a parent and she lacks the knowledge to represents parents.
