Experienced and Professional

Ryan was an asset during a very difficult situation I found myself in after I was wronged by multiple departments within my city with thousands of dollars of material on the line. Ryan had a tremendous amount of experience to help me navigate and ultimately overturn this situation in my favor. I wa...s very impressed with how knowledgeable Ryan was on municipal codes, regulations and guidances both on a city level (of a neighboring county) and a federal level, navigating guidances from the department of the interior. He is incredibly responsive, willing to answer my questions and thoughts, and follows through on what he says he’ll do. When he represented me live, he came prepared, was agile and persuasive in his approach and through facts and evidence, influenced city council to vote in my favor. As it turns out, you can fight city hall (and win!), with the right representation! Ryan was absolutely the right person to represent me and I’m incredibly grateful to have had him during such a difficult time. While I hope to never find myself in a situation like that again; if I ever do, I’ll be calling Ryan. I highly recommend him!

Disengaged

I contacted the law firm Ryan McCarthy works for to get help with a real estate transaction for the sale of property received as part of an estate settlement. I had made an appointment to meet with another attorney in the law firm but when I arrived I was presented with Ryan McCarthy. I had not resea...rched Mr. McCarthy but was told he had experience in real estate in the location of the property I was interested in selling. I worked with Mr. McCarthy for a very long one year and ten months completing this real estate transaction. I have never had a worse experience with an attorney and I have worked with many as part of my responsibilities as executor to two estates and several home sales. Mr. McCarthy had a brief strong start but faded quickly into near disengagement. He did not return emails or phone calls, he would miss deadlines, he would not follow through on things he said he would do. Things just didn’t get done. The final sale of this property was not completed until over four months after our established closing date and that was with significant energy and work on my part. At one point I was contacted by the buyer to ask why my attorney (Mr. McCarthy) was not returning her attorney’s calls and emails. Late in the process, I contacted the Buyer’s attorney directly to see if there was a way to close the sale together because I did not have confidence that Mr. McCarthy would be engaged in any way to see the sale through. My experience with Mr. McCarthy was very stressful and frustrating and I regret the time I spent working with him.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals.
