Mr. Santos' main practice area is representation of employees and individuals in cases involving unlawful discrimination and retaliation in private and public employment, housing, and public accommodations. His practice also includes unfair competition law litigation and federal, state and private whistleblower litigation & also prosecutes and defends employers in cases brought by employee-whistleblowers under the NY Whistleblower Law (NY Labor Laws secs. 740 & 741), the False Claims Act (the "FCA"), the NYS False Claims Act (the "NYSFCA"), and the NYC False Claims Act (the "NYCFCA").
Mr. Santos provides legal counsel to both employees and small to medium-sized businesses as to Federal, NYS, NYC laws and regulations related to workplace rights, and issues relating to the Covid-19 Pandemic. This includes but is not limited to: maintaining workplaces free from danger to employees' health and/or safety; the right to paid/ unpaid sick and/or medical leave; changes to unemployment benefits rules; and providing reasonable accommodation to employees with disabilties.
Lastly, he represents, counsels and assists small to medium-sized companies comply with labor and employment laws, rules and regulations. He offers legal counsel to small to medium-sized businesses in reducing their legal exposure when implementing layoffs, employee furloughs, terminations, reductions-in-force (RIFs) and offers of severance pay..
