Eric S. Tilton is a well-respected employment and civil rights litigator, representing both employees and management on labor and constitutional matters. Eric also represents civilians who have been denied their right to free speech, their right to due process of law, and their right to equal protection of the law. Eric has handled hundreds of matters on behalf of his clients, gaining successful victories in the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States Eastern and Southern District of New York District Courts, and the courts of the State of New York. Eric has also advocated before the United States Supreme Court.

In 2015, Eric partnered with Josh Beldner to launch Tilton Beldner LLP. Eric was previously a solo practitioner and principal attorney at Eric S. Tilton, P.L.L.C. Prior to that, Eric was an associate at a well-known civil rights and employment discrimination firm in Nassau County, New York. Eric is a 2006 graduate of Hofstra University School of Law where he served as an Associate Editor on the Hofstra Law Review, a publication in which his Note was selected among a competitive group for publication, “Business Necessity and Hostile Work Environment: An Evolutionary Step Forward for Title VII.” During his time at Hofstra, he was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to intern for the Honorable Sandra J. Feuerstein, United States District Judge in the Eastern District of New York.

Eric resides in Suffolk County, New York, with his wife (and their two dogs), and enjoys her support in all of his endeavors. As a well-grounded, native Long-Islander, Eric is keenly aware of the needs of local businesses and employees residing on Long Island and in the New York metropolitan area, enabling him to often service his clients more efficiently and effectively than some of the "big city" firms, which often shuffle the client around from attorney to attorney with little consistency throughout the course of the representation. At Tilton Beldner, however, you will be dealing directly with Eric on a regular basis.

Eric is currently admitted to practice before all of the courts in New York State, the United States Supreme Court, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and the local federal courts in our area, including the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Southern, and Northern Districts of New York.

Eric is also a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association. In the past, Eric was a cooperating attorney with the New York Civil Liberties Union (our local branch of the ACLU), and was a planning committee member for an employment law symposium which took place at Adelphi University, hosted by the Freeport Branch of the NAACP.

I won!
I hired Eric because my former employer refused to pay me my last two weeks of working there. He definitely knows his stuff and we ended up settling and I got what was owed to me! It was very fast and everything went smoothly. I will be recommending him to all my friends and family !

Employment law
We have used Mr. Tilton for several years and for several different projects. He has prepared and reviewed contracts for us when hiring independent contractors. He has also been instrumental in assisting us in the navigation of employment law. I would recommend Mr. Tilton to colleagues, friends and family.

Wasted 5 months & only wrote 2 demand letters..
After being referred to Eric by another attorney, I hired him to represent me for unpaid wages/retaliation case. Retainer said he would file lawsuit after attempting (2x) out of court resolution. after both attempts were unsuccessful, Mr. Tilton refused to file lawsuit citing "it was not in my best interests." As time went on, Mr. Tilton encouraged me to put the case on hold, asked if I wanted to find another attorney and suggested that I represent myself. Furthermore, I (Not Eric) uncovered additional issues to help bolster my case i.e. overtime, etc. Eric withdrew representation after I disagreed with his attempts to delay filing the lawsuit. He did not do right by me as a client. I have no doubts Eric is a good lawyer, but he was not good to me. He wasted my time and all he did in 5 months was write 2 demand letters, and delayed filing the lawsuit.

Response from Eric Tilton July 5, 2017
I am glad this client chose to post anonymously so as not to harm his/her case by revealing the legal strategy behind the issues involved. I am also pleased that the client recognized our firm as a good firm, with excellent attorneys. We at Tilton Beldner, LLP strive for success, and sometimes that means setting forth a strategy that the client does not particularly agree with. Unfortunately in this instance, the client did not want to heed our advice or the advice of an outside attorney (not affiliated with our firm) who also weighed in on the issues involved. Rather than attempt a successful resolution, the client chose another path, which did involve having to retain a different law firm. We wish the client the best in the future, and will learn from this experience going forward.
