Steven Henry Palacios

 

There he provided research and memoranda of law for many open cases and issues affecting the county. He drafted a preliminary injunction for a gang initiative to prevent gang activity in a vicinity plagued with crime. During that summer he also attended several depositions, 50-H hearings, and had the opportunity to second seat an attorney for a major federal case in the Eastern District of New York.

 

Steven's subsequent internship he earned the Equity and Criminal Justice Fellowship from the Long Island Hispanic Bar Association that provided him with a paid internship at the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office. There he Interviewed domestic violence complainants and helped Assistant District Attorney's provide plea bargain offers to defense attorneys. Conferenced with defense attorneys and became accustomed with daily court proceedings. He also researched evidence rules to provide judicial notice for a trial, provided insight in selecting several jury panels, and sat on over five criminal trials.

 

During his years of law school and currently, Steven is the director of youth and community development for the Friends of Huntington Station Latin Quarters. A community not for profit organization that focuses on the underprivileged, misinformed, and unrepresented population in a diversified and segregated region. As a member of the organization he published an article for the Long Island Hispanic newspaper Noticias on the significance of the Marcelo Lucero case and hate crimes in the region. He also takes troubled youth and teaches them the sport of wrestling.

 

In Steven's second year of law school he was admitted into a clinical externship in the Mortgage and Bankruptcy area. For his last two years of law school he counseled clients, investigated facts, reviewed financial records and negotiated on behalf of clients. Specifically, he prepared and filed Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy petitions. He appeared at hearings in U.S. Bankruptcy Court and at Mandatory Foreclosure Settlement Conferences. Steven has researched and drafted litigation documents necessary for Foreclosure Settlement Conferences.

 

Mr. Palacios is the President of Goldcoast Title Agency servicing all of New York in an array of different Real Estate transactions

 

Prior to law school Steven endeavored in several entrepreneurial projects as he managed his family's Real Estate firm, and helped create a mortgage company. Steven was a New York State Champion in wrestling and attended Purdue University on an athletic scholarship.

 

Mr. Palacios is fluent in Spanish and stays involved in the Huntignton and Lloyd Harbor Community.
