Eric Matthew Holzer

Eric Holzer, Esq. is an Associate Attorney with the law firm of Johnson & Cohen, LLP with offices in both Pearl River, New York and White Plains, New York. Mr. Holzer has specialized in the areas of Matrimonial Law, Family Law and Criminal Law since 2007.  He is admitted to the New York State Bar.

Mr Holzer received a BA in Mathematics with a Minor in History from SUNY Albany in 2004. After taking into consideration his own interest in the law and the experiences of friends and family members who were attorneys, Mr Holzer decided this was the right career to pursue. As a former athlete who played both football and lacrosse in college, he knew that litigation would enable him to utilize his love of competition for the benefit of others. He attended Albany Law School and graduated in 2007.

While at law school Mr Holzer interned at Westchester County District Attorney's Office (Summer 2005); Bertine, Hufnagel, Headley, Zeltner, Drummond & Dohn LLP (Summer 2006); Albany City Court (Fall 2006); New York State Attorney General's Office: Claims Division (Spring 2007). In his free time he was a prominent member of both the Celtic Law Society and Albany Law School Rugby Team.

Prior to joining the firm of Johnson & Cohen, LLP, Mr. Holzer was employed as an associate attorney at the Law Offices of James J. Sexton, PC where he almost exclusively handles matrimonial and family law matters.  During his time at the Law Offices of James J. Sexton, PC, Mr. Holzer work on and settled numerous family coourt actions and divorce actions, and conducted hearings and trials in both New York State Family Court and New York State Supreme Court.  Prior to his employment at the Law Offices of James J Sexton, PC, Mr Holzer worked as an Assistant District Attorney in the Rockland County District Attorney's Office from August 2007 through the end of August 2014. He was pleased to receive the Rockland County's 40 Under 40 Award from the Rockland Economic Development Corporation in 2012. He also received numerous Law Enforcement and Civilian Achievement Awards from various law enforcement agencies and groups during his time as an Assistant District Attorney. As an Assistant District Attorney he presented more than 100 cases to the grand jury, was involved in complex criminal investigations with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, conducted pre-trial evidentiary hearings and conducted many trials to verdict, including those involving serious felony cases.  Since leaving the District Attorneys office in August of 2014, he has practiced almost exclusively in the areas of matrimonial and family law.

Mr Holzer relishes the competition in the courtroom and thrives on the continually evolving nature of the law. He enjoys helping his clients overcome challenging situations.
