a very professional choice

Tamara is creative, experienced, intelligent and tactful. She made a very difficult time much less stressful, thought not only of the immediate legal situation, but also of how all involved could get on with their lives, which enabled me to pass through to the next stage of my life with a positive ou...tlook.

Superior lawyer

I came to Tamara Mitchel broken and afraid. I was a mother of two children both under the age of 2 years old. I did not want to go through a divorce, but had no choice. For years Tamara tried to help us reach a mutual decision about the custody of our children. She was experienced, patient and ethica...l. She did not push a trial. Unfortunately, we couldn’t reach an agreement about custody and had to go through a grueling two- week custody trial. Before going to trial, I had concerns about child custody, spousal maintenance, child support, who gets to live in the house, and a variety of other issues that can make a mother’s life extremely difficult and stressful. Tamara addressed each and every one of my concerns and was very knowledgeable with all issues that people face in divorce. She knows family law inside and out. She was sensitive to my needs and clearly understood that my children weren’t assets to be divided. Like me, she always put the concerns of my children first. During the trial, she excelled in the courtroom where she’s well known and respected. She’s assertive and works tirelessly. Whether we were on the phone, in her office, or in the courtroom, Tamara was always prepared. As a result, she helped me to get the custody deal I wanted; which was the most important part to me. I was given sole legal and physical custody of my two young children. I also was able to get to a financial settlement that I deserved. I highly recommend Tamara Mitchel without hesitation. She has truly made a difference in my family’s life.

Tamara Mitchel review

Tamara Mitchel came highly recommended to me and I highly recommend her to you. After being in a difficult marriage for many years, I reached the point where I knew divorce was the only option for me. Ms. Mitchel successfully guided me through unchartered waters of the divorce process, while being ...compassionate, fair and extemely knowledgeable of all aspects of my situation. My divorce has been finalized for a little over one year and I so thankful to have had Tamara Mitchel to guide me though this process. From my first meeting, Ms. Mitchel clearly described my options to start the process. She gave me the pros and cons of mediation. Because I was dealing with an ex-spouse with substance abuse issues and other disorders, I chose not to use the mediation process due to the high conflict nature of my divorce. While there were many days I wanted to close my eyes and allow Ms. Mitchel to make all the decisions for me, she was very clear from the start of the process that these were my decisions to make and she never pushed me in any direction when it came time to make each decision. She wanted me to be fully informed and make these choices about my life for myself. Specially with this early example, I remember all her reasons why she felt mediation was not a good option in my situation. As I debated this issue for myself, Ms. Mitchel would respond to every question I had over the two week period I took to make my decision to file for divorce. With her responses, I felt she gave me each possible scenario I would face and the pros/cons for each action I could take. As I look back now starting the divorce process, I feel very good that I made this decision myself on how to proceeed but I could not have done this without the knowledge provided by Ms. Mitchel. As we went through months of negotiations, Ms. Mitchel was very clear in explaining what I was and was not entitled to according to New York State law. As the negotiations process was occurring, my living situation was extremely difficult, unnatural and was not healthy for myself or my children. During this time, I was able to carry much of this burden, but there were days that I felt I could not continue on with the situations I was facing on daily basis. When I reached out to Ms. Mitchel in an emotionally charged state, she had such a way about her that I so appreciate to this day. She would be sympathetic to my situation, while at the same time remind me the purpose of the process. She could redirect my focus to the goal of the situation and she would help get me though the most difficult days. As I said, I am a little over a year since the divorce has been finalized. Because my ex-spouse's many personal issues, I am so thankful on a monthly basis that Ms. Mitchel helped create an agreement that clearly defines almost every possible situation that may arise. While life happens and you cannot plan for every situation, our agreement covers most situations that have arisen to date. Trying to co-parent with an ex-spouse that has many personal issues and does not show an understanding of childrens' needs, I am thankful that Ms. Mitchel had the foresight to define the parameters of these situations. It has helped spare me the back and forth as most situations are clearly defined in our agreement due to the thoughtfulness of Ms. Mitchel. I can look back at every decision that was made during my divorce process and feel confident I made the best decisions possible and I owe this all to Tamara Mitchel I hold Tamara Mitchel in the highest regard and would highly recommend her to any client who is going through the divorce process. I am thankful to have gone through this process with the support and knowledge from Tamara Michel

Outstanding legal counsel

Tamara guided me through a very difficult divorce, custody and relocation and provided excellent legal advice and services along with compassionate care. With her expert knowledge and steadfast dedication, she was able to successfully settle my case so my children and I could move on. I have dealt ...with attorneys before and after her and have to say she is the best!

My guardian angel, my savior, my advocate, my friend......

I can not express my gratitude and appreciation for what Tamara did for me and my family. I was entering a hostile separation and from the first moment we spoke, she understood my situation and told me exactly what I was to expect from my divorce. Three years later, it seemed that Tamara had writte...n the script, and had meticulously guided me through the roughest part of my life. Today, as a divorced single mother (after an 18 yr. marriage), I can honestly say that me and my two teenage daughters are healthy, happy, financially sound and truly looking forward to our bright future. Thank you Tamara, we couldn't have done it without you! xoxo E.
