Exceptional attorney
Tamara has helped save my life and my children’s lives. She helped me gain full legal, physical and residential custody of my two children due, in part, to help protect my kids from domestic abuse that they received from their other parent. As a result of Tamara’s excellent work, my kids’ lives are so much safer, more stable, and peaceful. Their emotional well-being has been largely restored, thanks to Tamara. I would describe Tamara as extremely intelligent, honest, hard-working, ethical and fair, knowledgeable and highly experienced. She is also very thorough with strong attention to details. When we went to trial, we were extremely well prepared. I think most of all, she really cares deeply about her clients and their lives. Our trial went exceptionally well and she helped me obtain the best possible outcome that I could have ever imagined for my kids and me. Thank you Tamara!

Strong support in my complex divorce
I engaged Tamara after my collaborative divorce process failed. We dealt with a multi-state issue, complex financials with one side much more financially astute than the other. She guided me well as well as worked well with competing counsel to get to an out-of course settlement and agreement which has both stood the test of time and was fair across the board.

Exceptional lawyer
Tamara is the best lawyer with extreme care to the clients. She has the charisma and integrity that’s hard to find. Divorce was one of the most difficult time in my life, especially when it involved domestic violence. Tamara showed to me how much she cares about me as a person, not just as a client. She always kept a big picture for me, advised me what’s the priority in my life, and made sure I got out of the divorce with healthy mentality which is most important to me and my kids. She is amazing in promptly replying phone calls and emails and highly efficient in writing documents. After my divorce, confliction still arises occasionally with my ex, and Tamara always provides her best guidance to me as the most trustworthy lawyer you can rely on. Tamara is the lawyer I always feel lucky to meet in my life. Thank you!

An outstanding attorney
Tamara gave me outstanding and knowledgable advice during my separation and throughout the divorce process, which entailed negotiating the details of Soberlink testing for custody. Tamara was extremely responsive and quick to draft detailed and complex stipulations and documents. She is extremely professional and personable, with a quick wit, and her experience in Westchester courts was a huge asset. I cannot recommend her more highly. She shepherded me through what was the most traumatic experience in my life, with skill, patience, and, above all, her vast legal knowledge.

terrific lawyer
Tamara Mitchel did great job in defending my case. She understood my case from the beginning which made me feel supported with a very difficult and abusive spouse. Her attention to detail helped to settle the case before it went to trial. I would highly recommend this lawyer.

Excellent Attorney
Tamara helped me through the most harrowing and difficult time in my life a divorce from a 30 plus year marriage with the added complication of abuse. Her deep knowledge and experience were evident every step of the way. She clearly explained the law, the process and what to expect. Her confidence, ability to listen, and to be direct (a quality I greatly appreciate) gave me confidence to keep pressing ahead. She was a consistent advocate for me and my situation, and she was always available. I never doubted a successful outcome.

A True Advocate
Tamara is very knowledgeable, precise, and helpful, from consultation to resolution. She truly was a tireless ally. Tamara never wavered from her mission as my advocate, giving advice for pros/cons of every issue. She understood how difficult the process is, emotionally and financially; she listened; and she helped me understand my options.

Tamara Mitchel Review
Tamara is terrific! She is a puzzle master. She is super-bright and very quick on the uptake, with a positive attitude and a sunny disposition. She is very precise in her work, and was always available to workout different issues on short notice, even over the weekends. Together, we crafted a uniquely tailored agreement that met my needs. In the face of utter unreasonableness from my ex's attorney, she kept her composure throughout the negotiations, and always managed to bring her around. In my opinion, you couldn't find a more competent attorney, or one with more integrity than Tamara.

A new life with her help
Divorce is difficult enough, let alone one that has you in multiple courts and has your head spinning, as you sit in a courthouse in disbelief of the lengths to which your soon to be “ex” will go. Add to that scenario the intricate dynamics of an abusive relationship; the ins and outs of domestic violence and you are left with a “perfect storm.” The only hope to move past this and emerge in one piece is to shore up and create a strong foundation. I used that very strategy by having Tamara Mitchel as my cornerstone. Her tenacious and purposeful manner, paired with her strategic and skillful legal proficiency is only the beginning of why I had confidence in her. I entrusted my life to her abilities tempered by her empathy and I never had a momentary regret. She listens, explains, gives sound and goal oriented advice and has the support of a wonderful group of colleagues. Tamara had the strength of purpose and understanding of my situation to be my tireless legal advocate. It is with her help that I have a new life.

Inspires complete confidence.
From day one, I felt assured that I was represented by the very best. Tamara proved relentless in her advocacy throughout my divorce. She was a stickler for details and also understood the complex dynamics of my relationship with my ex. Tamara made a daunting process manageable. I always knew she had my back. She is fiercely competent. I would not want to be Tamara's adversary in court, but was very grateful to have had her on my side.

client
Ms. Mitchel was exceptionally professional, thorough, & used her intellectual as well as intuitive abilities in my case. She remained calm and unshakeable during intense & awkward moments. Ms. Mitchel was incredibly supportive during a most difficult time, and there was never a question or hesitation accepting her advice. I knew I could discuss in total honesty with her anything that was of concern, & there was no judgment on her part. I was referred to Ms. Mitchel by another professional who knew of her outstanding credentials and reputation in the legal community, who would be a good match for my needs. I had no hesitation hiring her upon our first meeting, knowing our values and end-goals were the same. Her professionalism, realistic, result-oriented demeanor is held in high regard by me as well as her honesty & concern for her clients. I only wish she practiced in more areas of law. Truly reliable and never a question in my decision to hire Ms. Mitchel. Outstanding! Thank you.

A Tenacious Advocate
Ms. Mitchel is a fighter in the courtroom and in negotiations. She is strong in support of her client's positions, and is unwilling to backdown from an argument. She is also a technician when it comes to drafting briefs and motions and effectively citing existing case law. I trusted her with some critical family matters regarding my ex-husband's visitations and abuse of my child. I had full confidence placing these important matters in her hands, and we were victorious on nearly every point. She knows how the court system in Westchester operates, and her strategic vision for her cases will maximize your changes of winning. She is clearly the top echelon of family law lawyers in the County.

World-class lawyer
Soon after I learned that my spouse filed for divorce, I realized that divorce proceedings resemble a game of chess. It's crucial to make the most astute move at each step to counter your opponent's last move and challenge his next. In my divorce process, it was clear that Tamara Mitchel, a partner at BFGM&S was a "grand chess master" in the field of matrimonial and family law, and that her skills readily trounced those of my husband's attorney. She strategically "captured" his chess pieces, one by one, and helped me "win" one of the greatest matches of my life. In every action and counter-action she made, it became apparent that she made supremely intelligent moves. Tamara is a grand-master and knows when and how to be assertive, reasonable and meticulous. Moreover, she was humble enough to consult with and incorporate her colleagues' advice when necessary, to absolutely ensure the optimal move. As a result, I benefited from the entire team of excellent lawyers at BFGM&S. Tamara is a dream lawyer with a heart of gold, and it has been an honor and blessing to have had her on my side through one of the most challenging phases of my life. My deepest appreciation goes to Ms. Tamara Mitchel and her colleagues at BFGM&S.

Excellent
Ms Mitchel is smart and thorough. She doesn't allow opposing counsel to get away with expensive and obnoxious game-playing, and keeps her eye on getting the job done. My (ex) spouse tried every dirty trick in the book but got nowhere; Tamara kept my case strong and focussed and got me divorced with as little nonsense as possible and with excellent results. I highly recommend her services. She'll get the job done and she's very easy to work with. Plus, she has a great sense of humor, which helps in keeping everything in perspective.

I would recommend Tamara Mitchel for your divorce.
Unfortunately, my divorce was inevitable in December 2012. Fortunately, Tamara Mitchel was recommended by a dear friend who is a divorce attorney. After meeting with 2 other attorneys, it was clear that I felt comfortable and confident with Tamara. Through an unprecedented divorce process in Westchester County that ended in March 2015, Tamara maintained an ethical, prudent and firm grasp on my case. Honesty and integrity were important to me, and Tamara displayed both humbly and wisely. Despite fireballs from the opposing side of 3 attorneys and a judge who made bad law, Tamara kept her "eye on the ball" and made sure I did as well. The divorce is over and I came through a major storm ahead of my ex husband who paid most of his settlement to his attorneys. Tamara did everything to insure the marital assets remained in my hands and not in her hands. I am grateful that I chose Tamara Mitchel to get me through this very difficult, painful and expensive life change!

Excellent and Dedicated Attorney
I am a father, and a professional, who got divorced when my children were young. Ms. Mitchel has provided excellent legal services and advice, with dedication throughout the process--including negotiating a reasonable divorce settlement, which was in the best interests for my children and me. Ms. Mitchel also successfully litigated to conclusion the prevention of my ex-wife's action for relocating my children out-of-state. Ms. Mitchel has been successful in protecting my rights and relationship with my children in a challenging custody situation. Steve

Thorough, tough and kind
I hired Tamara for my custody, divorce and financial trial. She was very thorough. It was very difficult and she gave me support and excellent advice. She was also successful in a supreme court financial trial and attained a decision in which the judge imputed income to my ex, which he refused to earn. I highly recommend her and her firm. There are other excellent lawyers at the firm and they all call on each other and work as a team on your behalf.

a very professional choice
Tamara is creative, experienced, intelligent and tactful. She made a very difficult time much less stressful, thought not only of the immediate legal situation, but also of how all involved could get on with their lives, which enabled me to pass through to the next stage of my life with a positive outlook.

Superior Lawyer
Tamara guided me through a very long and difficult divorce. She was always the voice of reason in my case. She is extremely honest and straightforward and tells it like it is. Tamara has excellent instincts and was great at anticipating what would happen next. She was also very compassionate and a terrific advocate for me in court. Tamara fought hard (and was successful) in preserving marital assets during the divorce proceeding. Her excellent reputation in the industry is well deserved. I was glad to have Tamara represent me.
