Mitchell Yale Cohen

I hired Mitchell Cohen when I initially decided that my marriage was over. He came personally recommended to me through a mutual friend. He guided me through the arduous process of the legal separation followed by the divorce. He patiently outlined how I would draw up the separation and was alwa...ys very honest about what would and would not work. As in any separation there were many sticking points that needed to be ironed out before the agreement would be signed. Mitchell was careful not to put too much pressure on those items that he knew would delay the process interminably. With respect to the financial aspect of my case, Mitchell was again very realistic in determining just how far we could go. At times his advice was disappointing, but in the end the results were satisfying. His staff was courteous and accommodating, especially his associate at the time. I highly recommend Mitchell Cohen.

Mitch was recommended to me by a colleague and handled my divorce, property settlement and child custody battle, which included a domestic violence issue. He was very knowledgable about all of these issues and developed an effective and successful strategy for handling them all together and presentin...g the best case to the judge. He knew all of the players and gave me a great sense of what to expect every step of the way. He was very good about making sure I was aware of common practices and keeping me grounded in reality throughout our negotiations, and went to bat on the issues that were most important to me and my children. He also knew when to let me take the lead on certain issues. His calm and reassuring demeanor made some emotinal and stressful days much easier to handle.

I would give Mitchell the highest ratings. I initially tried to hire his partner, who i knew personally but he was unavailable due to a conflict. Mitch is a good listener, knows the law and is able to provide sound advice. On the other hand, my ex-wife's attorneys were mean spirited, unreasonable,... disorganized and, at times, ill informed. Despite having to deal with these people, Mitch never lost his cool, and never let them get the best of him or his client. Mitch also gave sound advice in dealing with the judge who had been assigned my case, and he hired forensic accountants who proved to be far superior to the ones hired by my ex-wife and her attorneys. In addition, Mitch provided calming advice, even when i was diagnosed with cancer mid way through the divorce. At all times, Mitch was working towards finding the best possible solution for me, his client. I beleive he achieved that and would recommend his services to anyone.

Mitch represented me in my separation/divorce and eventually in achieving a pre-nuptial agreement. He is knowledgeable, helpful, supportive, effective.
