Nelson De La Cruz

Nelson is probably the worst lawyer you could possibly hire. I started this divorce/custody process over two years ago. This guy is unresponsive and doesn’t get anything done on time. I’ve been told from the opposing party on numerous occasions that Nelson was either late or didn’t show for court dat...es. Half the time when I find something out it from the other party. My last court hearing was earlier this month and Nelson was trying to have me sign stuff hours before the court hearing. My next court hearing is next month and now his email and phone are not working. Save your money and DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS GUY.

CAT Law Office, hired this attorney as an Independent contractor. He worked with us only for a day and a half and submitted a bill of $3600.00 for his hours for a particular client and additional amounts towards expenses including Uber reimbursements. He was very well made aware of the fact that this... client is struggling to pay and has paid our office only $4000. This attorney exhausted the entire over a period of one single day. Some of the work done was not very necessary. We did let him know that we have scheduled his payment but he would need to be a bit patient until the bank can process it. We further had to talk to the client regarding this exceptionally high bill. Since then, this attorney has simply been condescending, arrogant and has tried to put undue pressure on us(by threatening us constantly) so that he's paid immediately. In our opinion he does not care about a client at all and all he is interested is the money!! This client is a domestic violence victim with a child and makes very little money. As an employer, hiring Nelson was a terrible decision. He does not extend basic common courtesies. I would not advice other attorneys to work with Nelson or clients to retain him.

Hired him for a divorce in 2021, it’s 2024. Months turned into Years of trying to call, email, and request my money back. I’ve never experienced this kind of behavior/treatment from an attorney, you hire lawyers when you need help and trust they’ll do their job. I live in another state as well so it’...s quite impossible to know what my next steps to circumvent finalizing my divorce another way is. Nelson promised to take care of me. Nothing but a financial and emotional nightmare.

I hired this lawyer, up front he took my money and never filed my case in civil court, after a while he lied, didn't show up for conference calls, never answered my calls, emails and texts. His voice mailbox was full, and I couldn't leave any messages. He is a crook, don't hire him. I referred him... to my brother's case and he also cheated us out of a lot of money. God don't like ugly.
