I inquired about my situation. Chaya said if I sign the retainer agreement she could get out a draft demand letter out the following week. I signed the retainer agreement. I told her I had no income coming in so I needed to move quickly. It took her six weeks to write nine pages without ever consu...lting me first. There were many errors. Then I finally speak to her and I tell her what needed to be changed. That took five more days. The demand letter goes out. I do not hear from her so I write her and ask if she heard from my employer. As a matter of fact she did. The lawyer wrote Chaya and wanted to meet the following Tuesday. The following Tuesday comes and goes. I do not hear from Chaya. On Wednesday I ask if she heard from counsel. She asks to talk on the telephone at 2pm. We speak and she had the settlement discussion with counsel and an officer of my firm but she NEVER INVITED ME TO JOIN the so-called settlement discussion. I hear that is malpractice. I am not a lawyer. So I tell her what I was told. I contact the other lawyer to tell her that what this person said at the meeting is a lie. Chaya disengages as my lawyer afterwards making up something that I supposedly did. She compromised my case and me. This could have been over and done with. There are no words I can articulate of how I feel. Chaya showed such arrogance and lack of protocol with procrastinating getting me a draft demand letter, then not notifying me of any communication from my prior employer, nor inviting me to my own case and taking her sweet time that I ran out of my savings and had to take out a loan to pay my bills. I was so upset and dismayed that I had to file a complaint with the NY bar association.
