Darrell J. Whiteley

Mr. Whiteley is a Partner at Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith, LLP and a Vice-Chair of the firm's national construction group. He is also the head of a litigation team that specializes in the defense of construction cases under the New York Labor Law involving catastrophic accidents for several excess and primary insurance carriers. In addition, Mr. Whiteley has extensive experience in the defense and litigation of large economic damage claims for regional and national construction contractors and developers, and for several large public construction projects including the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation, the Second Avenue Subway and the East Side Access Tunnel. His practice includes the defense of high-profile cases, including the Deutsche Bank Fire case in Lower Manhattan and the Con Edison Steam Pipe Explosion case in Midtown. Other areas of practice include premises liability, transportation and trucking, products liability involving construction equipment and hand tools, environmental claims as well as other general liability and complex tort matters. Mr. Whiteley has served twice as Co-Chair for for an international consortium of law firms specializing in construction litigation. He has extensive trial experience in both New York State and Federal Courts, and has lectured frequently on trial preparation, jury selection, and construction litigation.
