John Teufel

I am a divorce and family law attorney based in Brooklyn, and a legal writer.

I enjoy practicing divorce law because it gives me the opportunity to help clients through what is often one of the most difficult experiences one can face in life. I strive to provide representation that is supportive, knowledgeable, and professional, while still appropriately aggressive. I also have a longstanding belief that excessive counsel fees can be a significant impediment to justice for many clients. As such, I strive to keep fees in mind during litigation, and work with clients to reach fee agreements that are manageable and fair.

I received a Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School in 2014. During law school, I authored several case studies published in the national journal Gay and Lesbian Law Notes, as well as a thesis studying same-sex divorces across state lines. After graduating, I served as a fellow for Hon. Deborah Kaplan of the Matrimonial Part of the New York County Supreme Court. I am now Of Counsel to several prominent family law firms in the New York metropolitan area.
