Biography
Mr. Schein is a partner with the firm. Mr. Schein joined Berkman Bottger Newman & Schein, LLP in 2010 after practicing at another well-known matrimonial law firm since 2008. Mr. Schein’s law career has been entirely devoted to the practice of family law and complex matrimonial cases. Mr. Schein has litigated matrimonial matters in both Supreme and Family Court in Manhattan, Westchester, Nassau, Suffolk and Rockland County.
Mr. Schein’s practice consists of litigation, collaborative law and mediation. He also specializes in prenuptial agreements. Mr. Schein has a thorough understanding of custody related matters as well as financial issues, including but not limited to, business valuations and tax issues. This understanding allows Mr. Schein to settle most cases while resorting to litigation when necessary.
Mr. Schein has been included in the New York Metro Super Lawyers Edition for 2013-2018 as a Rising Star in Family Law, a recognition bestowed on fewer than 5% of the attorneys in New York State.
Mr. Schein is a member of the New York State Bar Association (Family Law Section); New York County Bar Association (Family Law Section); Nassau County Bar Association; New York State Women’s Bar Association; American Bar Association (Family Law Section); Association of Family and Conciliation Court; New York Association of Collaborative Professionals; and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. Mr. Schein has completed the National Institute for Trial Advocacy and American Bar Association’s Family Law Trial Advocacy Program. Mr. Schein is a certified family law mediator. Mr. Schein has taught a family law class with Jacqueline Newman and Barry Berkman for the Center for Mediation in Law.
Mr. Schein also sits on the faculty of the New York College of Matrimonial Trial Attorneys, where he has lectured and trained attorneys in trial techniques. Mr. Schein is a frequent lecturer and presenter for various bar associations and organizations in New York and throughout the country.
