This person, who was not even a client of the firm’s at the time, called the office on March 13th, a Friday, with a non-urgent employment matter while I was away on a very rare vacation with my family. My office was immediately responsive to her, on March 13th, and informed her that I was out of the office. Apparently, she demanded an immediate response from me. I got back to her immediately on Monday morning, March 16th, when I returned to the office. I tried to explain to her, as follows: “Please note that I was not ignoring you in any way, and I do not know why you would assume so. I just learned that you contacted the firm on Friday, while I was away on a very rare vacation with my family, as I get very little time off.” This must not have been acceptable to her, as per the above. I am hopeful that people would understand that there may a very few days per year that I cannot be immediately responsive to non-urgent matters, simply because I value and prioritize quality time with my family on the very rare occasions that I can take such time.
