Early enthusiasm quickly faded

I was eager to work with Ari, and he seemed very confident and optimistic about our chances. He bragged about how he had previously won a case against my former employer for a large sum (I later discovered it was a sub-contractor, not the same company) and that he would gain a quick settlement. After... several weeks without a response, he was finally able to speak with their attorney and was then unable to get a settlement offer. This entire time he was preparing me to go through the legal process, but when it came time to start filing the complaint he stopped responding to my repeated e-mails and phone calls. It was quite shocking and disturbing. I was not trying to rush him, just wanted to know where we were in the process. It would have been one thing if he told me that he thought the legal steps would be too burdensome and we should just abandon the case, but he didn't do that. Eventually, after several weeks, he changed his opinion and told me that there would likely be very little damages and a lot of work for very little money. At that point I had no choice but to abandon the case, but it was obvious that he had more profitable clients. I also learned throughout the process that he did not have the connections or reputation with my former employer that he claimed earlier.
