Suneeta T. Dewan

Suneeta Dewan began her practice in 1997. A Juris Doctor from Seton Hall School of Law (US), Suneeta also holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Osmania University (India) and a Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in Economics and Political Science from St. Francis College (India). Before embarking on her legal career she was a successful business owner. This foundational business experience has guided the remarkable trajectory and diversification of her legal practice.

Her confluence of business, legal and international expertise also give Suneeta a deep understanding of the needs of newly established organizations and those continually restructuring to meet the demands of the global workplace. By providing cost effective and efficient advice, her firm has successfully serviced the immigration needs of numerous American and multinational corporations in various industries. Suneeta also routinely advises family petitioners and international civil servants at a premier International Organization.

Suneeta is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and Northwest Bergen (NJ) Branch of the American Association of University Women, where she has served on the board as Chair of the Legal Advocacy Fund. She is the Legal Advisor to Children’s Hope India, Inc. and Chair, Legal Resource Network for Hindu Samaj, Bergen County (NJ). Suneeta has worked with the United Nation’s Women’s Guild and is frequently invited to give seminars and presentations on immigration matters at various venues.

A committed social activist, Suneeta is involved in supporting various causes. She is an active member of Manavi, an organization for battered South Asian women. In legal clinics, she has counseled abused women on immigration matters, frequently filing self-petitions under the Violence Against Women’s Act (VAWA). Suneeta is also on the advisory panel for Palms for Life, Children’s Hope India Inc., and non-profit organizations working to raise funds to alleviate hunger, support education, especially girls’ education, adult literacy, health care for mothers and children.

Suneeta speaks fluent English and Hindi, and has a working knowledge of French and Sindhi. She and her experienced, multi-lingual, client-friendly staff are committed to serving the immigration needs of their clients.

Admitted in New York, New Jersey, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Supreme Court, Suneeta Dewan’s practice in New York and New Jersey concentrates on Immigration and Nationality Law. Suneeta currently spends her time in New York and New Jersey. She is also a mother of two children, both of whom are successful attorneys.
