Harriet Newman Cohen is one of New York’s most distinguished matrimonial and family law attorneys, with a career spanning more than five decades at the forefront of divorce and family law. A founding partner of Cohen Stine Kapoor LLP, she is widely recognized for her exceptional advocacy in complex, high-net-worth matrimonial matters and has represented business leaders, public figures, entertainers, professional athletes, and families navigating some of life’s most challenging transitions.
After earning a B.A. from Barnard College and an M.A. from Bryn Mawr College, Cohen raised a family before pursuing a legal career, graduating cum laude from Brooklyn Law School in 1974, where she served as an editor of the Law Review. She quickly established herself as a leader in matrimonial law and became a prominent voice for divorce reform, as well as the rights of women and children.
