Elite Professional!

Retaining the services of Mr. Robert G. Smith to handle my divorce is one of the most important decisions I have ever made. He treats me with respect and carries himself with confident professionalism. During our consultations, he listens and takes careful notes about my case. His questions are cl...ear and direct, providing me with an insight into what the merits and challenges of the case are. His thoughtful preparation before every court hearing helps me to relax because I can see that I am in good hands. His acumen in and out of the courtroom is noteworthy, and I trust his decision making and knowledge of the law to help me during my divorce. I truly know that he is fighting day in and day out to give me the best possible results. Robert G. Smith is the kind of consummate professional in real life that I thought you only see in movies. I had been very poorly advised by a divorce lawyer who claimed to be a specialist My wife convinced me to give her "space" to move from New York to Florida with our kids. My so-called "divorce specialist" did not advise me about the legal hurdles for custodial relocation. The ink was not dry on my wife's document when I discovered that her real plan was to reside with her paramour. Mr Smith immediately zeroed in on a legal flaw in the supposed settlement document. He hauled my wife's lawyers into an emergency hearing in the New York Court. He totally out-lawyered my wife's lawyers and turned everything around in less than a week. Now my kids stay with me here in New York. My wife can still have her "space" in Florida. Robert G. Smith quite literally saved my kids and me.

Worked on my behalf 1,000 miles away...

When my ex-wife moved to New York to begin divorce/custody proceedings I believed we were reconciling. When served with the papers I didn't know where to begin (I live in Kentucky and had no contacts in New York). Mr. Smith was the individual I depended on to represent me. He treated myself and my... family with kindness and integrity throughout the entire process. I believe that he did everything he could to limit the amount of travel and expense necessary for a lengthy custody battle in another state. By the end of the ordeal he seemed more like a relative than a lawyer, but make no mistake, he knows his way around a courtroom. Mr. Smith was spectacular in the examination portion of the family court proceedings. He is very good at making sure your narrative is told as well as dispelling lies and falsehoods from the other side through cross-examination and expert witnesses. Mr. Smith explained the process to myself and my family in a way that limited the amount of surprises we encountered along the way. He has a vast amount of experience and knowledge about the system and how it works. He uses these tools to navigate you through an inefficient court system all the while being honest with you about your chances for success. I would not hesitate to recommend him to others and would use him again tomorrow if I needed to.

James initially hired me following a phone consultation. The case included ugly allegations of domestic abuse, expert reports, multiple appeals, and multiple trial days - - Robert G. Smith .

The best attorney ifor difficukt cases.

Robert Smith represented me in a difficult case that actually went to trial. His expert management of the matter, effective cross examination of witnesses and creativity proved the difference in a case that other professionals told me would end largely in favor of my ex. Instead, Mr. Smith created an... end result that was fair to both parties. He instilled in me a sense of confidence and helped rid me of fear during a trying time. I highly recommend him.

The Court asked me to represent Bruce, who was facing a potential contempt adjudication, which might have included incarceration. We were able to expose the meritless nature of the claims during the cross examination of the wife. The case ended shortly thereafter at a fraction of the monetary award sought by the wife.

The Best Attorney

I recommend Robert G. Smith without reservation as a skilled and dedicated trial and divorce lawyer. I am a successful dentist and observant in my religion. When my wife began accusing me of infidelity at work, she involved our children, then ages 3 and 4. Two years later, my wife escalated... her attack by filing a false police report that I threatened to kill her and our children. I spent a night in jail that I will never forget. The next day I retained Robert G. Smith. Mr. Smith secured the dismissal of the criminal case. Then he went about to obtain custody of our children. He litigated with diligence and poise. While cross examining the Court's psychiatrist, Mr. Smith got him to admit that my wife suffered from delusional disorder, and to change his recommendation from shared custody to sole custody right there on the witness stand. Mr. Smith spent three days cross examining my wife, and when he was done with her, nobody in the court room thought that my wife was sane. Then Mr, Smith proceeded to give an oral summation that made me so proud that I insisted that he have it transcribed and put it on his website. Mr. Smith stayed with me through thick and thin. Although Mr. Smith disagrees, my wife claims that the reason she lost custody of our children was because she did not have a dedicated and capable lawyer like Mr. Smith. To anyone facing the prospect of child litigation custody I can offer a few words of advice: The stakes are simply too high for you to be able to avoid the temptation of an emotional mistake. At the outset of my case, Mr. Smith outlined our goals: maximum time with my children and minimum financial exposure. I am grateful that I have had the benefit of representation by a lawyer that I respect and trust. It enabled me to follow what appeared to be counter initiative advice, such as his recommendation that I voluntarily pay a $ 5,000.00 retainer to my wife’s third divorce lawyer, and to avoid other emotional temptations that could have prejudiced my case. I believe in my heart that my children will have a better life because I fought for and won custody. For that I am forever grateful to Robert Smith. Very Truly yours, SR

In my opinion this client's children have been far better off being raised by him. The mother filed spurious domestic violence charges (which required a hearing at which witnesses testified) as well as a full blown child custody trial at which mental health professionals and other witnesses testified. In the middle his cross examination by me at the child custody trial, the mental health expert who the court had appointed actually changed his conclusion to a position far more favorable to my client the father. At least four lawyers were hired and fired by the mother before the process was finally concluded. I believe that most if not all child custody cases can and should be settled quietly, quickly and inexpensively. My client SR's ordeal was unavoidable, necessary and I believe essentail for his children's future.

Brilliant and Tenacious

Mr. Smith took on my divorce when other lawyers said it would be too difficult. I had to get full custody, settle a complicated business partnership and recover many stolen marital assets. Mr. Smith fought for justice for me and my children all the way; winning 3 major trials; recovering all my asse...ts; protecting my children and helping me to dis-bar a felonious lawyer. He never wavered in his advocacy for me, or my children. I consider Mr. Smith to be my family's guardian angel.

An experienced and skilled matrimonial specialist with a state-of-the-art office like myself can resolve most divorce cases in a few days. Rick's situation was most unfortunate in that he did not take any initiative in causing the divorce or the break up of the family. His wife made accusations against others, lawyers, visitation supervisors, judges. She staked out unreasonable positions. She did not filter or conceal her anger. Rick is a terrific parent and his kids came through it all with as little damage as possible. My so-called courtroom triumphs for this client are far less important than the emotional and financial survival of the rest of the family, especially the kids.
