I am a respected litigator and negotiator, well known in the profession, with more than 40 years of experience as lead counsel in hundreds of matrimonial cases. I have the highest skills and ethics professional rating from Martindale-Hubbell (AV Preeminent), from both my peers and the judiary. I have earned the Superlawyers designation. In addition to extensive matrimonial experience, I have also defended high profile homicide cases.
My roster of satisfied clients includes testimonials from many prominent professionals, successful entrepreneurs, celebrities, and their spouses.
Photos on the internet do not tell you what reality, staff and equipment supports the claims that are made in advertisements. My state-of-the-art boutique law firm is conveniently located in midtown Manhattan. Your team, headed by me, is hand selected and assembled for your particular needs. It is not an expensive collection of bodies, because there is no inherent strength in numbers for these assignments. I will never fail to practice thrift in the allocation of tasks for which you will be billed.
Although I have appeared on national television hundreds of times, lectured to lawyers, and authored scores of appellate briefs, as the old adage says: those who can’t, teach; and those who can, do. I am one who does. When the rubber hits the road in your case, I do not delegate to others or change the narrative. From the beginning to the most successful end, my mission is to conclude your case successfully, efficiently and to your satisfaction. You should become free not only to go on with your life but to thirve and prosper.
So how do you go about choosing the right lawyer for your case ? I suggest that the process of selectiing the best lawyer for your case can be as easy as A, B, C:
• A – Make sure that your divorce lawyer is accessible and able to answer your questions.
•B – Your divorce lawyer should be business-like, not your therapist; busy enough to be knowledgeable; current on legal developments; strong when appropriate, but not unthinkingly belligerent. Legal representation is already too expensive.
•C – Your divorce lawyer should have credentials and capability, both at the conference table and in the courtroom. Then you will have the confidence you will need to enable you to meet the extraordinary challenges which confront the divorcing spouse and parent.

Retaining the services of Mr. Robert G. Smith to handle my divorce is one of the most important decisions I have ever made. He treats me with respect and carries himself with confident professionalism. During our consultations, he listens and takes careful notes about my case. His questions are cl...

When my ex-wife moved to New York to begin divorce/custody proceedings I believed we were reconciling. When served with the papers I didn't know where to begin (I live in Kentucky and had no contacts in New York). Mr. Smith was the individual I depended on to represent me. He treated myself and my...
James initially hired me following a phone consultation. The case included ugly allegations of domestic abuse, expert reports, multiple appeals, and multiple trial days - - Robert G. Smith .

Robert Smith represented me in a difficult case that actually went to trial. His expert management of the matter, effective cross examination of witnesses and creativity proved the difference in a case that other professionals told me would end largely in favor of my ex. Instead, Mr. Smith created an...
The Court asked me to represent Bruce, who was facing a potential contempt adjudication, which might have included incarceration. We were able to expose the meritless nature of the claims during the cross examination of the wife. The case ended shortly thereafter at a fraction of the monetary award sought by the wife.

I recommend Robert G. Smith without reservation as a skilled and dedicated trial and divorce lawyer. I am a successful dentist and observant in my religion. When my wife began accusing me of infidelity at work, she involved our children, then ages 3 and 4. Two years later, my wife escalated...
In my opinion this client's children have been far better off being raised by him. The mother filed spurious domestic violence charges (which required a hearing at which witnesses testified) as well as a full blown child custody trial at which mental health professionals and other witnesses testified. In the middle his cross examination by me at the child custody trial, the mental health expert who the court had appointed actually changed his conclusion to a position far more favorable to my client the father. At least four lawyers were hired and fired by the mother before the process was finally concluded. I believe that most if not all child custody cases can and should be settled quietly, quickly and inexpensively. My client SR's ordeal was unavoidable, necessary and I believe essentail for his children's future.

Mr. Smith took on my divorce when other lawyers said it would be too difficult. I had to get full custody, settle a complicated business partnership and recover many stolen marital assets. Mr. Smith fought for justice for me and my children all the way; winning 3 major trials; recovering all my asse...
An experienced and skilled matrimonial specialist with a state-of-the-art office like myself can resolve most divorce cases in a few days. Rick's situation was most unfortunate in that he did not take any initiative in causing the divorce or the break up of the family. His wife made accusations against others, lawyers, visitation supervisors, judges. She staked out unreasonable positions. She did not filter or conceal her anger. Rick is a terrific parent and his kids came through it all with as little damage as possible. My so-called courtroom triumphs for this client are far less important than the emotional and financial survival of the rest of the family, especially the kids.
"Robert Smith is an experienced and effective lawyer. He is true professional and I highly endorse him."
"I endorse this lawyer. I have referred family and divorce matters to Bob and found him to be professional, courteous and a great advocate. Clients were very happy and I would refer additional such cases to him in the future."
"Robert Smith is an excellent attorney who manages to be tough with his adversaries, yet compassionate towards his clients at the same time. He is diligent and hardworking and has many years of experience."
