Smart, strong, highly recommended

I went through a messy divorce after a long marriage. Harriet guided me through the process, made me feel taken care of and in good hands. Everyone working with her was helpful, compassionate and responsive. The case did not have to go to court, which I appreciated a lot, not only because I saved mon...ey that way, but also for the sake of the children and to get the divorce over and done with. She did an expert job and helped uncover monies my ex was attempting to hide. Highly recommended!

The best of the best!

The "Doyenne" of NYC Divorce attorneys! Absolutely the best. Never loses sight of the big picture...Harriet was a strong and knowledgeable advocate and got me great results.

Recommended if you have unlimited funds and patience...

Working with Harriet Cohen was an exercise in extreme frustration for me. I would have had better results if 1) I defended myself; or 2) if I just used the same attorney that my ex-wife used, because I had a lot more respect for her. When I met Harriet, she quoted me her hourly rate and explained th...e process. The first meeting after that, I was introduced to her accountant who was to be involved about 80% of the time, thereby almost doubling the fee. For three years, I witnessed an inexcusable amount of wheel-spinning, back-tracking, and confusion. She had no regard for my financial status during the process. After almost three years, I finally told her I was running out of money and somehow she was able to quickly resolve the case. Of course, I lost a great deal of money to her, and ended up with a terribly inequitable "settlement," just to end the situation. I would never even consider recommending her

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
