Michael William Troha

Michael joined Mendes in 2009 after graduating from St. John’s University School of Law, where he was an active member of the Moot Court Honor Society and won multiple national awards for brief writing and oral advocacy. At Mendes, Michael acts as legal counsel to both Lloyd’s of London Underwriting Syndicates and domestic carriers in a variety of roles. He is primarily involved with healthcare-related business, particularly reinsurance claims involving hospitals and large health systems and direct allied health claims. In this capacity, Michael is actively involved with evaluating coverage issues, developing and guiding claim resolution strategies, and representing clients at mediations. He has negotiated many cost-effective settlements in complex cases on behalf of clients during his time with the firm.

Michael’s work also involves traveling nationally to review ceding companies’ claims operations and portfolios on behalf of reinsurance clients and drafting both policy wordings and policy endorsements across a wide range of business lines. In addition to his healthcare-related work, Michael has experience handling general, environmental impairment, and cyber liability claims.
