Dishonest lawyer. The individual was an average trademark lawyer that's ex USPTO, that wasn't getting enough business as a independent lawyer obviously. We hired him prior for a trademark and he seamed reasonable in prices compared to various other trademark lawyers. However we hired him again and ha...lf way through a unfinished trademark he contracted his self to another firm with a bad reputation from previous clients and staff. He basically sold out the unfinished trademark service to them to try to extort for more money on a underlying tab service for the other firm. Not the "additional services" available that he was trying to offer, that we upfront told we couldn't afford once things started seeming unreasonably bait and switch type as it progressed. Emails? You were unknowingly charged now for. Account of the trademark file? You were charged by the month now, and anyone in that firm that helped "him" wanted a fee too and they failed to mention up front it would cost "additional" fees to even finalize the trademark due to failing to mention the USPTO would reject it under known conflict that couldn't be resolved without a USPTO trial process costing potentially thousands more. No average person would hire a trademark attorney without knowing they would extort you for every dollar possible and throw you a tab bill to double,triple or quadruple the cost 12+ months later, especially for a trademark that he knowingly knew upfront would cost large legal fees to pursue fully. Would you walk into a "vehicle dealership" buying a car for $3K and then upfront paid, only to find out the whole dealership now charged you an additional $4K or more for a vehicle that was rejected for improper government mandating of the process that knowing would make the vehicle 20k in the end that wasn't disclosed? We sure wouldn't and neither would other trademark lawyers offering services of estimates prices upfront for less.

I am an inventor and Tod fully and thoroughly explained the patent prosecution process to me and told me exactly the type of patent I needed. He was able to get me the patent in a timely manner after much back and forth with the examiner. It is helpful knowing he is a former patent examiner himself. ...The process was painless and I found him very charming.
