Avoid Kushlefsky - A Grave Warning for 9/11 Victims: Abusive Management, Case Churn, and Fiduciary Failure

To Prospective Clients: As a former client navigating a sensitive 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund (VCF) claim, I feel it is my duty to issue an urgent warning about Kriendler & Kriendler. My journey exposed a toxic internal culture driven by a volatile, hostile management style where individual huma...n circumstances are entirely discarded in favor of high-volume case churn. If you expect competent advocacy and basic professional respect, look elsewhere. Initial Disconnect and Unresponsiveness My experience began with significant challenges in basic communication. The assigned case manager, Patrick Morrison, was consistently unresponsive and frequently unavailable. Crucial follow-ups were neglected, and scheduled meetings dissolved without notice or explanation. Despite my repeated attempts to establish clear communication and advance my case—including a detailed email outlining my concerns—I was met with silence and inaction. This pattern amounted to a clear abandonment of the firm's fundamental responsibilities. The Abusive and Exploitative Conduct of Juan Rodriguez The true dysfunction of this firm is personified by Juan Rodriguez, who hides behind the inflated, manufactured title of "Director of Administration." Rodriguez has absolutely no right having a forward-facing interface with clients or the public at large. He is an emotionally volatile force weaponized by the firm to protect their toxic processing mill operations. His sole mandate is to push back hard, abusively, and condescendingly on any friction points that challenge the firm's incompetence and total lack of transparency. Rodriguez treats traumatized 9/11 victims as mere inventory in a high-volume, transactional paper mill. He doesn't care about you as an individual, nor does he care about your specific medical or personal circumstances. When you question their broken system, he unleashes outright hostility to shut down dialogue, displaying a severe lack of emotional stability and professional decorum. His behavior is a toxic misuse of authority toward vulnerable individuals seeking legal support. The Ivory Tower Leadership and Fiduciary Failure of Noah H. Kushlefsky This entire toxic operation stems directly from the top, driven by Managing Partner Noah H. Kushlefsky. Kushlefsky sits completely detached in an ivory tower, entirely insulated from operational realities. Any feedback or information he receives is filtered through a one-sided, highly prejudicial, and tainted internal echo chamber of subordinates under his command. The depth of his unprofessionalism was laid bare in a termination letter where he explicitly stated that he "knows his people intimately"—essentially claiming that the actions and abusive behaviors of his direct reports are entirely infallible. Kushlefsky refuses to ever pick up the phone to speak directly with a client to hear a grievance firsthand. Instead, his entire management philosophy relies on systematic gaslighting—manipulating injured clients to force them "back in line" so the firm can rubber-stamp the file and collect their transactional check. Kushlefsky took a solemn oath to act as a fiduciary, yet his actions demonstrate that this firm’s priority is protecting its trust account balances rather than fulfilling its ethical duty to help victims. His leadership represents a profound weakness, a total abdication of managerial oversight, and a complete breakdown of professional standards. Improper and Retaliatory Termination of Representation The culmination of these issues was the firm's sudden decision to immediately terminate my representation via a letter from Kushlefsky. This shocking action, coming directly after I asserted my rights and challenged Rodriguez's abusive conduct, was a retaliatory termination rather than a professional resolution. It deeply underscores their profound failure to address client issues and a complete disregard !

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
