Mark Edgar Palmer

Mr. Palmer recently served as a Partner at MatlinPatterson Global Advisers, which he joined in 2009.  He was charged with structuring the firm's investments and leading selected transactions. 

Mr. Palmer was a Partner at Bracewell & Giuliani since May 2006, serving as Chair of the firm’s Private Investment Funds Practice and Head of NY Corporate. He represented private investment firms, financial institutions and corporations on M&A, governance, private/public takeovers, JVs, investments and reorganizations.  From 2004-2006, he was a Partner and Head of US Corporate in New York for Linklaters and, from 2003 to 2004, was a Partner at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan. He began legal practice in 1993 at Sullivan & Cromwell and served as a Corporate Associate in the mergers and acquisitions group through 1998. 

From 1998 and 2001, Mr. Palmer served as an executive and Co-Founder at NextSet Software, as a Director for strategic transactions for Reuters America and Reuters Venture Capital and as SVP/General Counsel for TIBCO Finance. 

Examples of legal representations advising bondholders and committees are: WorldCom, Adelphia, WestPoint Stevens, Viasystems Group, Personnel Group of America, Railworks Corporation, APW Ltd., Desa International Holdings, Maxim Crane, NSC/Pueblo, TransTexas Gas, Woods Equipment, SatMex, Varig, Ormet, Oneida, Standard Pacific, ATA Airlines, Global Aviation.    Corporate clients have included BP, Merrill Lynch, Cablevision Systems of America, Goldman Sachs, ING, AB InBev and Giuliani Capital.  

Mark also was heavily involved, as a Principal, in structuring and making investments in Standard Pacific, Global Aviation, FXI, Crescent Communities, Flagstar Bank, Nortel, Tousa, Idearc. Many of these involved unprecedented structures and redefining applicable legal/market standards.  

He has served on several boards including Global Aviation, Advantix Systems and Crescent Communities, as well as litigation trusts such as Idearc and Boston Generating.
