Kristen Devaney was very honest from the first phone call when inquiring about the divorce process that I was pursuing. She explained to me in terms that I could understand what made sense for me given my specific situation. Getting divorced during the pandemic proved to be a challenge for a lot of... people, but not for me. All communication was easily had via, phone, text, emails, etc. The only time that I ever needed to be present in her office was when signing my official settlement. She provided legal counsel so far as what made sense, not what would cost me more money, stress, etc. in the future. While waiting in between steps of the process she would check in with a quick update just to let me know where we were. This was a small gesture that helped ease my mind during what could have been made to be a lot more upsetting given my circumstances.

I never felt as though she didn’t care about my case, she called in the evening to ask if pick ups and drop offs went well. She stayed in contact with me and she was compassionate and caring of my case. She kept in touch with the law guardian and always kept me updated with what ever was spoken about.... She talked me off the ledge when I was having an anxiety attack several times. She always sent me copies of paperwork. She was fair, she didn’t always tell me what I wanted to hear but she always kept it real and she was very good at explaining why things happened the way they did and that explanation much more often then not really helped ease the the pain. She was also very good with numbers and making deals to keep child support more affordable because the NYS child support formula had me paying a ridiculous amount given my circumstances I could never afford it. I would highly recommend her, for me she was a godsend.
