First things first. Toni Messina is a trailblazer. She is down-to-earth, but she is an absolutely relentless force. Her practices are well-known and respected. I am beyond grateful for her help. They involve evading police vehicles, making contact with them, people jumping out of the way to avoid what must have seemed like certain death, an injured officer, a car fire, stopping traffic and then an additional chase which led to an additional resisting arrest charge. I suffered a psychiatric episode and as a result ended up in a very complex criminal matter which could have had very negative implications for my career, education, and immigration status. The case was particularly unique because I had no recollection of the incident and thus wanted to go to trial f...or a not guilty verdict. Toni was able to very quickly get a handle on the complexity of the case and suggested a different approach. We realised that in cases involving psychiatric episodes temporary insanity is very difficult to prove and could potentially lead to a quagmire of its own. She negotiated a deal with the NY DA’s office and also collected enough evidence and references in my support to convince them to allow me a misdemeanour plea deal without any fine, sentencing or other negative repercussions. I will remain forever grateful to Toni for being able to turnaround my life by helping me in the most critical of moments. Unlike other attornies Toni likes to have a facts based discussion, does not unnecessarily scare her clients nor does she sugar coat hard truths or tough choices.
