Oksana Sokolova

I highly recommend lawyer Oksana Sokolova to everyone who is in a difficult situation. I am glad I met her at that moment when I was in the hardest and hopeless situation in my life. She treated my problem in a non-routine way and I felt that for her I was not just a "client". During the consultation..., first of all, I felt her desire to help, support and make the process of the trial less frightening and painful for me. All of my questions were completely and professionally explained, what I cannot say about consultations with other lawyers. She objectively assessed my situation and my prospects. She gave me a lot of important and useful advices. After talking with her, for the first time in several months, I felt much calmer and this was just as important to me as the information received during the consultation. Considering that some of my problems are connected with Russia, it turned out to be important for me that Oksana has the right to practice law in the courts of the Russian Federation and she has a legal representation in Moscow. Moreover Oksana understands perfectly in taxation issues. Despite the fact that her consultation for me was lasting longer than 2 hours, she did not charge me for more than 1 hour of her work. I think that price is more than acceptable for the professional of her level. In addition, before the consultation, I sent to her a detailed description of my problem with which she familiarized herself in advance. Я очень рекомендую адвоката Оксану Соколову всем кто попал в непростую ситуацию. Рад, что в момент когда я находился в тяжелейшем и как мне казалось безвыходном положении я встретил именно ее. Она отнеслась к моей проблеме не рутинно и я почувствовал, что для нее я был не просто очередной "клиент".... Консультируясь с ней я почувствовал её искреннее желание помочь, поддержать, успокоить и сделать для меня процесс судебного разбирательства менее пугающим и болезненным. Все мои многочисленные вопросы ею были разобраны полностью и досконально чего я не могу сказать о консультациях с другими адвокатами. Она объективно оценила мою ситуацию и мои перспективы. Она дала мне много важных и полезных советов. Не смотря на то что её консультация продлилась дольше 2х часов она не взяла с меня более чем за 1 час своей работы. И я считаю что для профессионала ее уровня стоимость эта более чем приемлема. Кроме того, мною до консультации было выслано подробное описание моей проблемы с которой она ознакомилась заранее. Если бы меня спросили коротко охарактеризовать Оксану Соколову я бы сказал следующее: человечность, искреннее желание помочь, профессионализм, глубокое знание закона и компетенция по широкому спектру вопросов.

I found Oksana through a recommendation by the Russian consulate in New York. I’m limitlessly grateful for it. When I met Oksana my case was already closed due to negligence and incompetence of American attorneys, each blaming the prior one for their failures. I was misled, deceived, and defrau...ded by five attorneys in total. Oksana studied the case very thoroughly, getting into its finest details, and concluding that it wasn’t her specialty. However, she was willing to offer help, opinion, and guidance. The case was relatively straight forward. My husband is a very sick man suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. His children abused his condition and stole from him. Most attorneys I dealt with before would charge high fees, but I didn’t hear a strong legal position and didn't see results. My experience with Oksana was quite the opposite. She structured our thinking and framed our legal stance. This was the first time I felt confident that we had a solid winning position. Looking back on the prior attorney’s work, it all seemed vague, and questionable by comparison. She did what I was paying others to do. Oksana ended up guiding my attorneys in many ways. Importantly, she became a stakeholder in my case, she was present, and she would ask my attorneys the questions I wasn’t qualified to ask, which motivated them to do the work they were being paid to do. We ended up winning the case, to the surprise of my attorney. The court gave my husband’s children 45 days to prepare a report on how they spent the money after which there was a long silence from my attorneys. Oksana again stepped in stating that the silence is suspicious. She asked me to send her the most current papers and found out that, my attorneys were to submit documents to the court as per the court schedule, and the other side was to respond by the 11th of the month. Oksana called the attorney and found out that he never submitted the documents. The attorney admitted that he was at fault. Oksana again stepped in and fixed the situation, saving the case once again. Quite ironically, one attorney asked me to write a review as soon as I hired him. Literally, before he did any work. Oksana never did, and that’s why I’m writing it. She appeared in court as my trusted representative. According to even my attorney, she was very bold and presented the case in a way that the judge had no doubts as to the merits of our position. Oksana is a person you can trust with your case. Even if she is not handling it directly as an attorney, she can be your representative to ensure your attorneys are not defrauding you. She makes attorneys accountable. She asks them the right questions and stands your ground. We have to trust attorneys because we have no knowledge or competence or time to know whether they are doing the right thing, whether they are following your interests or those of their own (which I found to be the case more often than not). It’s just too tempting when the client has no clue. Attorneys can simply tell the client the case was too complex or their position was too weak, and the client would never know whether it was the weakness of the case or the attorney. The client doesn’t know how to stand up for themselves against their own attorney. The client can’t hold the attorney accountable. The client doesn’t know about bar associations and the attorney’s responsibilities. Oksana can play that role and keep your attorney in check, oversee your attorney’s work, offer a second opinion and prevent problems. Oksana has a beautiful mind and clear, structured thinking. In my case, she framed the legal argument in a way that was powerful, undeniable and would stand up to scrutiny.

It was a great pleasure and a very good experience to have Oksana as a layer. She saved us a great deal of money by representing me and my wife at medical institutions dealing with price intransparency issues. She also did a great job expediting issuence of travel documents for our new born baby.
