Secondly, her last name, Blum, also has meaning for her career. The last name has Germanic roots originally meaning flower, but later evolving to mean gardener or florist. Sure, as young gay men, my boyfriend and I can objectively recognize that she is pretty like a flower, but that is not the point. Rather, she is patient like a gardener: sowing a fruitful relationship with her client and pruning her arguments to redirect her energy to the strongest 'buds.' And ultimately, she can be considered a florist of sort—arranging a beautiful portrayal of me that emphasized my best qualities to the ADA. Because of her, I can enjoy my day, move forward in life, without a record, and thrive virtually stress-free. Let me also be clear, it wasn't always sunshine and daisies, clever application of etymology, or time to break out figurative language I haven't used since high school. When it rained, Deborah picked up the phone no matter how busy, and when the communication was thrown off by New York City noise or scheduling conflicts, she was able to recover by finding the next available time to discuss new information in my case. Overall, she is highly recommended, even though I would have done some things different on my end had I been given the opportunity to hit the reset button.
