Biography
Mr. Bernstein joined Spar & Bernstein, P.C. in 1993 after graduating from Brooklyn Law School, where he was a Merit Scholar and earned his J.D. degree. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan with a B.A. in Political Science in 1990. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1994 and the New Jersey State Bar in 1993.
The firm was established by his grandfather, Harry Spar, in 1958. Mr. Spar was a known leader and innovator of immigration law during his lengthy career. Mr. Bernstein decided to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps by practicing immigration law in 1993 and then becoming a leader in the field in his own right.
In a relatively short period of time, Mr. Bernstein established himself as one of the top immigration attorneys in the United States. Mr. Bernstein is a guest commentator on the subject of immigration law for the Fox Business News channel and for BBC World Radio.
Since 1999, Mr. Bernstein has been the host of a daily and highly popular, immigration-focused call-in radio show on 93.5 FM, a leading New York radio station that is also broadcast internationally. His show has been made popular for his effervescent sense of humor as well as for his immigration knowledge.
Mr. Bernstein also conducts seminars on immigration, both nationally and internationally. Currently he heads up the Immigration Department of Spar & Bernstein, and is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Mr. Bernstein is available for dynamic keynotes and presentations with both domestic and global perspectives on immigration law and issues.
