Joshua Mcintire Paulson

Joshua Paulson is a well-respected, bilingual attorney with many years of courtroom and trial experience in both state and federal courts.  He has served as lead counsel in the representation of hundreds of clients facing serious criminal charges, and has recently expanded his practice to include federal civil rights claims as well as immigration assistance for businesses and individuals.

A former Assistant Federal Public Defender in northern Virginia, Mr. Paulson earned the respect of the bench as well as his adversaries for his diligent and zealous representation of his clients at every stage of the criminal justice process.  His thorough deconstruction of federal sentencing guidelines frequently led to clients obtaining sentences that were significantly below the guidelines in a wide variety of cases, including fraud, drug trafficking, pornography, and immigration violations.  

No matter the charge or situation, Mr. Paulson is dedicated to achieving the best possible results for his clients, whether through negotiations, trial practice, or sentencing advocacy.  In 2013, Mr. Paulson successfully negotiated the dismissal of an international drug trafficking charge for a Guatemalan courier whose goods were found to contain more than 500g of cocaine, and as trial co-counsel achieved the acquittal on the top count of a client accused of assaulting and injuring a federal officer.  

A 1996 graduate of Carleton College in Minnesota, Mr. Paulson received a Masters Degree in Latin American Studies from Stanford University and his law degree from Columbia Law School.  He is admitted to practice law in New York, Virginia, and California, as well as in federal courts in all three of those jurisdictions.  

He is fluent in Spanish.
