Excellent commercial leasing attorney

I am the owner of a fashion showroom in midtown Manhattan, Dan Halper assisted me with the financed buyout of my leasehold estate which involved a highly sensitive negotiation. I have also retained him to advise me on landlord tenant issues such as estoppel certificates, and more recently a net Rea...l Estate Tax clause and a Default clause. I am very impressed by his knowledge of real estate law and his very prompt customer service. He has always been a good friend.

Forced my landlord to fix my apartment

I am an elderly man living in the East Village in New York City. I have lived in the same apartment since 1967. Because I have rent control, I pay one of the lowest rents in the entire city. For over twenty years my various landlords illegally refused to repair my apartment because he did not see... it to be profitable to do so. I hired Dan Halper who took my landlord to court, and over the course of months forced my landlord to renovate my apartment and bring it up to code. Dan poured immense energy into the job taking many photographs and even helping to film and edit a movie about my struggle to repair my apartment. He personally supervised each visit by construction crews so that the landlord's attorney could not make false claims in court claims that work had been done if it really hadn't. For several years now I have been able to enjoy a far more habitable residence. I was very happy with Dan's work and referred him to my upstairs neighbor whose funds had been unfairly taken by a court appointed guardian after my neighbor suffered a stroke. My neighbor made an unexpected recovery but the court would not give him his money back. He had hired five attorneys and they had all failed. Dan took the case to trial and won it completely leaving my neighbor with no guardian and with control over his funds until the day he died. Soon afterwards, my landlord attempted to evict another elderly neighbor of mine falsely claiming that she lived in Puerto Rico. Dan forced the landlord to back off and actually withdraw the court case. Since then, he has actively assisted me with a number of business contracts and dealings with government agencies. I am grateful for his assistance.

A Great Lawyer and a Great Friend

I have known Dan Halper from the beginnings of his law practice in 2003; and I was one of his first clients. Since then I have hired him for many different matters in many different areas of the law. I have also referred my friends to him; and, no matter what the area of law, Dan has worked very ha...rd fighting tooth and nail to achieve good objectives. He has assisted both my friends and myself in fighting against slum lords to get various apartments repaired. He assisted a good friend of mine in removing an incopentent and unnecessary court guardian. When various business associates attempted to rip me off, Dan sued them for copyright and trademark infringement in Federal Court and successfully clawed back funds and won control of crucial copyrights. The number of incidents and matters are too many to list individually, but I can say wth assurance that most importantly, Dan has been a good friend to me and all my friends who I have referred to him. His customer service has been more than impressive. He turns over documents more rapidly than any attorney I have ever worked with. His business contract drafting skills are top notch; and, he has always charged a reasonable affordable fee.
