My story was a bit tricky, since I was forced to flee my country in fear, with a visitor’s visa, because of the s...ecret police and internal politics. When I arrived in the US and started gathering information about my case, a friend of mine who knew the local lawyers better advised me to meet with Dennis Mulligan, who at that time was serving as the Executive Director of Nationalities Service Center and had been head of the immigration legal program there. I still remember that Tuesday in 2011 when Dennis met with me for the first time. He brought out the summary of my story I submitted in advance and which he already knew perfectly. In a convincing voice he promised to represent me and I felt very glad then that I was obtaining assistance from one of the most recommended immigration attorneys who would help me apply for asylum status. Third, Dennis has more than 30 year of practice and he is very knowledgeable about African issues and African cultures. Emails and phone calls were the two means he used to communicate with me as soon as it was necessary to set an appointment or to meet. When the case concluded, Dennis called me within 10 minutes of him receiving the news from the asylum office. He left a message and sent me an email immediately. Aside from my wonderful experience with him, I am also aware of the satisfaction he provided to the numerous customers that the Coalition of African Communities in Philadelphia (I am the president of this Community Based Organization) referred to him.
