Biography
Louis Russo founded Russo Law LLC after more than a decade training alongside some of the sharpest business lawyers in the country at Proskauer Rose, Winston & Strawn, and Alston & Bird — three of the most respected AmLaw 100 firms in the United States. He left BigLaw to build something different: a firm where business owners get the same caliber of legal counsel that Fortune 500 companies rely on, without the overhead, the billing padding, or the runaround.
Lou's practice centers on the legal challenges that business owners actually face. He drafts and negotiates the contracts that govern how businesses operate — NDAs, operating agreements, master services agreements, distribution and fulfillment arrangements, software licenses, equity and stock option plans, and commercial leases. When deals go sideways, he steps in to resolve disputes through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, or litigation in federal and state court. Those disputes often involve breach of contract, commercial fraud, tortious interference, partnerships, and business divorce — the breakdown of a business relationship between partners, investors, or shareholders.
Lou also helps entrepreneurs buy and sell businesses, guiding them through asset purchase agreements, membership interest transfers, and the coordination of tax advisors, brokers, and other professionals needed to get a deal across the finish line.
For clients who want ongoing legal support rather than one-off representation, Lou serves as outside general counsel — handling day-to-day legal questions, reviewing contracts before they're signed, and keeping businesses compliant without the cost of in-house counsel.
Beyond his practice, Lou serves as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and FINRA, and previously taught commercial arbitration as an adjunct law professor.

Excellent consultation
Our initial consultation went well. Louis talked me through a few different options on how to proceed. He was upfront about what he can handle and what he cannot handle. This was important to me as my case is a bit complex.
