Exceptional service

I have been having an ongoing issue with NJ Division of Taxation and ultimately ended up filing a complaint in Tax Court. When the language and process became more than I could handle a friend of mine referred me to Marty Davidoff. From the moment I called and spoke to Rachel and than had a follow ...up call with Rob and later a 30 minute consult with Marty that turned into 2 hours on a Saturday afternoon I was treated by all three with such professionalism, courtesy, patience and knowledge like no other. Marty not only provided me with a strategy on how to approach my next mediation but educated me on NJ law and provided case law pertaining to my lawsuit. These words do not do justice in expressing the gratitude and respect I have for this firm and giving me by far the best experience I have had with an attorney from beginning to end. Thank you to all who helped.

Top-Of-The-Line Tax Attorney -- Highest Recommendation

Sometimes we make poor decisions. Such decisions can have serious consequences. I allowed myself to make a series of bad choices. I fell behind paying my taxes. Year one, just a little bit. Year two, a little more. It continued for several years and hundreds of thousands of dollars. At first, my “fri...ends” at the IRS seemed not to care much, merely sending polite letters demanding payment once or twice a year, until . . . In February an IRS Revenue Officer (“RO”) showed up at my office. She was polite, but deadly serious and all business. She wanted to know why I hadn’t paid my taxes and told me the IRS was coming after me. She advised that liens would be filed, that she would find my wife (a joint-filer, who had no idea of our tax delinquencies) to discuss the matter, she advised that we needed to move into a cheaper apartment, and delivered other scary warnings. I called my CPA and told him what transpired. Without hesitation, he referred Marty Davidoff. I called Marty’s office and spoke to Rachel. She was wonderfully reassuring, letting me know I was hardly the first person in that situation. She was incredibly organized, had a list of questions and told me what documents Marty and his team would need to see. (Now six months later, I remain very impressed with Marty’s team. His staff is attentive, detailed oriented and client focused.) Within an hour Marty called me back. He described his professional experience as a tax attorney and his initial expectations and he made it clear that he would advocate for us. Beyond demonstrating his legal expertise, Marty was compassionate. He clearly understood that I was hurting, and that my wife would need not only an expert legal strategy, but a fair serving of humanity and TLC. Marty (and his team) have demonstrated those qualities. We had our first meeting days later. Marty and Andrew Paradis, his associate, expertly walked us through the situation, analyzing our tax liability, our income and assets. They walked us through rights that taxpayers, even delinquent ones, have. When we did not understand things, they took the time to explain them again. While they assured us we could work this out, they never overpromised. The two Es – Excellent and Ethical. We left that initial meeting with a plan for Marty and Andrew to engage with the IRS RO and demonstrate our commitment to making things right. They also had a backup plan, preserving our rights. Within days they had developed a positive working relationship with our RO – while my wife and I were ecstatic, my impression is that it seemed like business as usual for Marty and Andrew. I now understand the reason – and that is because this is what they routinely do, and they are expert at it. One of the things we were required to do was provide full financial disclosure to the IRS. This can be a difficult process, and when not done properly can lead to mistrust by the IRS. Marty and Andrew walked us through the process making it easy for us to understand what we needed to provide. Marty’s team compiled a professional submission for the IRS which helped resolve our matter by building a bridge of trust between us and the IRS. By our second meeting Marty and Andrew had developed a strategy for a six-year payment plan. It was achievable and realistic, and provided us a chance to both pay our liability and continue to live comfortably. The IRS accepted our proposal due to, in my opinion, the relationship Marty and Andrew established with the IRS. We had a number of minor issues arise since our plan was accepted. Marty and Andrew have been very attentive. They are problem solvers and dealt promptly and effectively with those issues. I have never posted a review of a service provider before on the internet, but I am compelled to now. We were so pleased with the services that Marty, Andrew and their team provided, I would love to be able to recommend them to others facing tax problems so that they can be helped the way were

IRS Audit for a small business

After hiring a CPA that failed to inform me of his inability to represent my company because he worked for the FDIC. My taxes were filed, and I was alone dealing with the IRS audit. My wife did some research and found that Marty came very highly recommended. Marty and his team worked diligently and e...fficiently to work out a fair and equitable deal with the IRS. Their services are not cheap, but as my wife likes to say "you get what you pay for."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
