Jonathan E. Diego has been a litigator in New Jersey since 1994. His practice focuses primarily on work injuries (workers compensation), personal injury, criminal defense, domestic violence, motor vehicle tickets, and employment law (discrimination, harassment, retaliation/whistle blowing).

Jon graduated in the top 10 of his class from Pleasantville High School (1985); cum laude from Mars Hill University, North Carolina, in 1989, and Rutgers University School of Law, Camden (1993). While attending Mars Hill University and Rutgers University School of Law, he received several academic scholarships.

After law school, Jon was a judicial law clerk for the Hon. Arthur Guerrera, J.S.C. and the Hon. Robert Neustadter, J.S.C., both Judges of the Superior Court of New Jersey. From 1994 to 1999, Jon worked as a civil rights attorney, representing employees and other victims of discrimination. He handled cases in both federal and state courts, as well as proceedings before the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights and the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

From 1999 to 2003, Jon held several positions as a government attorney, working in the Office of the City Solicitor (Internal Affairs Prosecutor-ACPD), Atlantic City, NJ; the Office of the Municipal Prosecutor (Chief Prosecutor), Camden, NJ; and the Office of the City Attorney, Camden, NJ.

From 2003 to 2010, Jon worked at Miksis & Diego, where he continued to represent employees in discrimination and retaliation claims. He also handled workers compensation claims, personal injury claims, criminal defense, municipal court and domestic violence matters.

From February 2010 through February 2013, Jon served as the Chief Prosecutor for the City of Atlantic City.

In his years of private and government practice, Jon has handled hundreds of trials and/or hearings involving workers compensation, employment law, civil rights, criminal, municipal court and domestic violence matters.

Jon also knows from personal experience what it means to stand up for civil rights. As an attorney, he was a whistleblower who sued the City of Atlantic City, taking the government to trial, and winning a judgment of over $180,000.

In addition to his legal work, Jon has also devoted himself to serving his community. He has served as the pro bono legal adviser to the President of the N.J. Police Administrators Association, the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, and the Atlantic City branch of the NAACP. He also has coached young people in various sports including, but not limited to, football, basketball and weight training. Jon continues to mentor at risk youth, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Spanish Community Center and the Marty Wilson Jr. Art and Music Foundation.

Jon is admitted to practice before the trial and appellate courts in the State of New Jersey, and he is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Truth Justice and Integrity
If you have read reviews before, you are probably skeptical and don’t know whether to believe them or not. I am the skeptic! When I sought Attorney Diego’s help I had been through some things. Not every attorney is honest. I will leave that there. Mr. Diego listened, he consoled me, and most important he believed me when my own insurance company didn’t believe me. At least it felt like it. I felt like the world was against me. I won’t go into details, but the fact that I gave Atty Diego proof and he began to take me through the judicial process. I have never had a moving violation or had to go to court with someone claiming I did something I didn’t do. I’m giving you this much because I want you to understand Mr. Diego was a godsend to me. We went to a few court appearances, the last one he got the charges dismissed. I trust and would recommend him to my family friends and colleagues. He is the truth as young people say. As well as the best. This happened most recently I can’t tell you how much better I feel.

Highly recommended!
Mr Diego has recently represented my wife in a municipal matter that lasted several trial days. Rather then taking the easy way out he honored our wishes to seek her innocence. He never told us what we wanted to hear; rather being honest and advising of possible outcomes so as to not get surprised should it occur. His determination and resolve proved in the end that he was part of our team, leading us to victory with the verdict we hoped for. He is highly recommended as I have not one negative thing to say about his representation of my wife during her ordeal. I remain happy with his services as he still looks after us as we move forward in other legal matters.

Excellent job!
Mr.Diego is an excellent attorney! He won my case during a six day trial. I couldn't have asked for anyone better to represent me. During our consult he asked what I wanted and he never steered away from my choice. I highly recommend Mr. Diego for any criminal matters!

A very satisfied client.
Recently Mr.Diego represented my son,. From the very beginning the effort and degree of professionalism exhibited by him were second to none. He was very knowledge and precise in presenting the information we needed. The results we obtained through his representation were much better than we anticipated.. I have since then I have recommended him to my colleagues and friends knowing that they too will be pleased. It is comforting to know that I have a competent attorney who works hard for his clients.
