Kimberly M Coffina

Kim Coffina is a legal writer and researcher for McOmber McOmber & Luber, P.C. She earned her B.A. in journalism and political science from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ and her J.D. from Rutgers Law School in Camden. While in law school, Ms. Coffina worked in the U.S. Attorney’s Office as a law clerk and thereafter clerked for Justice Gary Stein on the New Jersey Supreme Court.

Following her judicial clerkship, Ms. Coffina was a litigation associate in the labor and employment division of Drinker Biddle & Reath, LLP in Philadelphia, PA. While at Drinker, Ms. Coffina counseled clients on FMLA, ADA, Title VII and ADEA compliance. She conducted internal investigations, drafted employment agreements, employee handbooks and other workplace documents. Ms. Coffina guided her clients through all phases of litigation from providing risk assessment to preparing for deposition and trial. Ms. Coffina fought hard for her clients and won many cases on summary judgement including Monaco v. Am. Gen. Assur. Co., 359 F.3d 296 (3d Cir. 2004) and Habib v. Urban Outfitters Inc., No. 03-CV-1561, 2004 LEXIS 8987 (E.D. Pa. March 31, 2004).

Prior to her legal career, Ms. Coffina was active in New Jersey state government. She worked at a prominent lobbying firm representing large businesses and trade associations in Trenton, N.J. Ms. Coffina also worked in the public affairs division at the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and served as an advisor to former Governor James J. Florio.

Ms. Coffina is passionate about community service and social justice. She is an active member of Congregation M’kor Shalom in Cherry Hill and currently serves on its Board of Trustees and Social Action Committee. In 2015, Ms. Coffina spearheaded the creation of an urban garden at The Neighborhood Center in Camden. The garden provides fruit and vegetables to those in the city without access to fresh food. The garden also provides opportunities for Camden teens to work in the garden during the summer and receive job training and mentorship. Under Ms. Coffina’s leadership, M’kor Shalom received a 2019 Irving J. Fain Social Justice Award presented by the Commission on Social Action of Reform Judaism (CSA).

Ms. Coffina is a lifelong resident of South Jersey and resides in Marlton, NJ with her three sons and her husband Scott who currently serves as Burlington County Prosecutor.
