Approximately a year ago, I experienced what was definitely the most difficult time of my life and marriage. My husband of thirty-six years developed what I will describe as early stage dementia. I was emotionally devastated, and confused and frightened by the medical, financial, and legal decisions... I was being asked to make. My family hired the Rothkoff group in November of 2012 on the recommendation of my father's care facility. Our father's Medicaid application was a year old at that time and was rejected by a supervisor for being "too old to approve" even though we had complied to their every request. My father's vali...d claim needed to be appealed when we went to Rothkoff. The claim had been opened in November of 2011 and was not approved until July of 2013. After several court appearances, many months of furnishing documents to the County that were in their original request, and many hours of work by the Rothkoff group on our behalf, our father's claim was approved. Six months after his death! Families go through so much stress in caring for an elder parent. We made daily trips to Daddy's facility to spend as much time as possible with him while handling all the details of his Medicare case. It was a nightmare. Without Rothkoff's help, the stress would have been unbearable. People in this situation really need a good advocate. Estate planning prior to our parents' illness allowed us to keep our home . Rothkoff and his associates provided excellent service to us during an extremely challenging time. My family can recommend them without hesitation. My father and I were with the Rothkoff Law Group for 6 years. We were provided with a wonderful social worker and a VA knowledgable advisor. Jerry and his team provided tremendous assistance in guiding me with my mother's senior care, including living accommodations, medicaid application and follow-up, and on-site review of care at designated intervals to ensure the providers were living up to expectations and requirements. I was kept fu...lly informed on a timely basis as to the results of these reviews. The few exceptions that were found were rectified by the provider immediately.
