Biography
I believe the mission of a lawyer is first to help clients understand and solve the problems that bring them to me. This means listening and understanding their problems and concerns. It means telling them, when I can, honestly and directly, what I believe they need to know, not just what they want to hear. Over the years, this has helped me and my clients draw mutual satisfaction from our dealings and relationships. I also believe that lawyers need to give back to their community, to be part of the solution, not part of the problem, wherever possible.
I grew up in southern California, and after attending Reed College in Portland, Oregon and the University of California, Santa Cruz, where I received my BA in Politics, I headed east. After 2 years service as a VISTA volunteer paralegal for a legal aid office in Rochester, NY, I went to Rutgers Law School in Camden, NJ. I was admitted to the New Jersey and Pennsylvania state and federal bars in 1980.
In 1983, after 1 1/2 years working for a Burlington County agency and about the same time handling consumer law problems for the Philadelphia firm of Leonard Sagot and Associates, I became a partner in Sagot, Wizmur, and Neuner in Burlington County. In 1993, Joanne Ventura and I formed our own law partnership in Marlton, NJ, where we have practiced together since.
