Excellent Service!!

Mr. Gutman is an excellent real estate attorney. He guided me through the whole process of purchasing the property. He and his team (Jennie) are extremely knowledgeable about real estate sale/purchase, they explained to me in detail the whole process and were very prompt in responding to each and eve...ry question of mine via phone calls and emails. Overall a great experience and I highly recommend Riley & Gutman. They are the best!

Worst paralegal I ever encountered

I used this office to buy a house. The paralegal made so many obvious mistakes. Emails sent to wrong recipients, numerous typos in documents she prepared, missed deadlines. Bank was ready to close. But the attorney office was not. We ended up closing outside of the deadline required by the contract b...ecause of their delay. Complained the paralegal's incompetency to the attorney. He became defensive. So much unnecessary stress when dealing with this office. Months after the closing, the registration was sent to my neighbor's mailbox. Yes, the paralegal put down the wrong street number on the envelop! I felt sorry to hire this office.

Martin - I appreciate your review. Your closing was in 2014 and I remember it well. I truly appreciate your comments. I recognize buying a home is a stressful time in our lives and I am sorry we let you down. Our goal is to treat every client like they are our only client. Toward that end I hired additional staff to increase our quality of service and the paralegal you refer to is no longer with our firm. I am always working with our staff to improve and make the client experience a satisfying experience. I take to heart your experience and I am truly sorry that I let you down. At the end of the day, it is my name at the top of the letterhead. I came across a quote from Mahatma Ghandhi which we have adopted in our office, which is: "A customer is the most important visitor, on our premises. He is not dependent on us.... We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption on work ... He is the purpose of it. He is not an outsider to our business ... He is a part of it. We are not doing him a favor by serving him ... He is doing us a favor by giving us the opportunity to do it." Martin - I wish you well and hope you are enjoying your home.

Bad Customer Service and TOTALLY unresponsive

This is a horrible attorney and poorly run office. They don't answer your calls and ignore your messages. They take on too many closing and provide no customer service to the clients. During one of the most stressful transactions you can undertake, they ignore you and make it worse! Their lack of ...responsiveness also costs you more money, for example, in unnecessary overnight fees. When you are finally lucky enough to talk to someone other than the receptionist in the office, they make it clear to you how busy they are and that they will get to you when they can as some days they have 5 closings or more to handle.

"I endorse this lawyer. I practice primarily in family law cases and divorce. It is not uncommon for one spouse to sign over his/her interest in the marital house to the other spouse, or for one spouse to buy-out the other spouse, or to simply place the house on the market for sale. In each of these, I have referred my client(s) to Michael who has handled the title transfer or refinance or sale with perfection. The clients are well cared for, and Michael knows exactly which documents (deed, affidavit of title, etc.) are needed for each situation. I can hand off the client to Michael who knows how to accomplish the goals of transferring title."
