Ultimately I did not retain Mrs. Katcher's services because she was not able to provide what I needed. However, in our consultation she was incredibly patient, insightful and helpful. She ended up recommending me to a colleague that was the right fit for my needs. Hopefully I will never need to hire a criminal defense attorney, but if I do, Mrs. Katcher will be my first call. I'd recommend the same for anyone.
Tamra provided me excellent representation. She is knowledgeable about the law and strategies to get the best result. She is well acquainted with relevant parties. She was always available and consistently communicated with me. She is clearly highly experienced and very professional as well as being pleasant to work with. I would highly recommend Tamra.
My experience with the Criminal Justice System dates back to my internship and clerkship with the Hon. Paul J. Vichness, JSC. I also had the pleasure of interning for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, where I later was sworn in as an Assistant Prosecutor. During my experience as a law clerk, as well as an Assistant Prosecutor, I gained valuable experience with legal research and writing - a skill that I have honed and utilize to date on behalf of my clients.
After leaving the Essex County Prosecutor's office, I was an Assistant Prosecutor for the City of Newark where I assisted in organizing and supporting the City's Quality of Life program. I worked closely with the Port Authority Police to prosecute illegal limousine activity at the Newark Airport. I also taught at the Newark Police Academy, training newly promoted Sergeants and Lieutenants about Newark municipal ordinances, and counterfeit DVDs and CDs being sold in the City in violation of State law.
Since leaving the City of Newark, I had my own law practice, and returned to teaching as an adjunct professor for the Criminal Justice Departments at Kean University, County College of Morris, and the College of St. Elizabeth. I am also a Senior Instructor for Garden State CLE, teaching other attorneys about various areas of criminal law.
In 2013, I joined the Rem Law Group and specialize in Criminal Defense, DWI/DUI, Motor Vehicle Offenses, and Domestic Violence.

Tamra Katcher is a real catch (pun intended)
Tamra Katcher is the real deal, intellectually sound from the legal perspective, straight forward in her approach and compassionate in her representation. I retained Tamra after being arrested and charged with felony and misdemeanor assault via a 911 hang-up via my mentally-troubled son. Her initial assessment of the charges and the ultimate outcome was dead on correct. Throughout the 10 months to navigate through the legal process, Tamra worked vigorously on my defense and never wavered on her support of me as a client given the emotional circumstances with my son. I felt she was my strongest advocate at times, and worked with me as a team. The results speak for the themselves, the felony charge was administratively dismissed, and I was acquitted of the misdemeanor assault—exactly as she predicted. She is an excellent attorney and a fine person. I would recommend her without any reservations. She is tough, fair, compassionate and one fine attorney.

Tamra Katcher
Tamra is one of the best attorneys I've met. We contacted her right after a member of our family was arrested. She was eventually able to have the charges dropped and the arrest expunged. It was such a difficult time in our lives but she helped us get through it. She is such a dedicated professional, very understanding, and always available for questions. To this day I continue to reach out to her with minor issues and she provides guidance. I strongly recommend Tamra for anyone seeking legal representation.

More than expected - my new "go-to" for all future issues
The Rem Law Group was referred to me as a great law firm to handle my 2nd DWI. During my consultation, I began working with Tamra Katcher of The Rem Law Group and immediately knew she was the one I wanted on my side.
During our consultation, she was extremely focused on my case and every minor detail. There was not ONE second where I felt 'rushed' or like 'just another client'. She was extremely thorough with her thoughts, the laws, my options, etc. I hired her on the spot.
From that day on, Tamra EXCEEDED my expectations with the amount of communication her and I had throughout the entire case (7 months); whether it was through phone or email. She was always quick to respond, or hand over information that she received on her end and keep me 'up to speed' on the case. She also did an amazing job working around personal issues I was going through (losing my job) and did MANY unexpected & friendly things to help along the way. I was going through a lot, and her assuring & positive personality also played a large role in helping me feel better about the situation.
Because I was so satisfied with her services, towards the end of my case, I hired her again to review my FIRST DWI because the lawyer I hired for my 1st case was NO WHERE NEAR as thorough as Tamra, and I believed I had received poor representation. She diligently worked on reviewing my first DWI at the same time as my 2nd.
Not only was she extremely professional and personable (which is hard to find both in a lawyer, it seems), I was stunned and grateful for the way she was able to break things down for me, in a 'non-legal' language that I could understand.
I would recommend 100% and will absolutely hire her again if I'm in need of representation again. A+++ all the way.

More than pleased with the outcome of my case
Ms. Katcher is an extremely knowledgeable and talented attorney. She walked me through the entire process and kept me up-to-date the whole way. I am more than pleased with the outcome of my case and I am thankful that Ms. Katcher and team could put me at ease during a very stressful time.

"I had the pleasure working with Tamra when we were assistant prosecutors in Essex County. She was my trial partner and one of the most dedicated attorneys that I have ever known. She is extremely bright, diligent, and practical. Since that time, I have had the pleasure of recommending several criminal and municpal matters to Tamra. The feed back I got from the referrals was excellent. I will continue to recommend Tamra in the future for such matters and would strongly suggest that anyone looking for a criminal/municipal attorney consider Tamra."
