Steven B Cohen

Mr. Cohen has been mentioned in New Jersey Monthly Magazine and has been listed in the New Jersey Super Lawyers® Rising Stars editions for the years 2016 through 2022, a list published by Thomson Reuters.

From the time he was a law student, Steven Cohen has pursued a career focusing on family law. Steven received his Juris Doctorate, Cum Laude, from Touro Law School where he was a recipient of the award for Exemplary Contributions to the Quality of Student Life. Steven was selected to participate in the Touro Family Law Clinic where he had the opportunity to represent indigent clients in need of representation in matrimonial litigation.  While at Touro, Steven served as Moot Court Honors Board Associate Editor-In-Chief, Day Division, and competed in the 2011 Albany Law School’s Domenick L. Gabrielli National Family Law Moot Court Competition. Steven  was the 2012 recipient of the Moot Court Honor Society Membership of Distinction Award, and received four CALI Awards including those for Excellence in Mediation and Rights of Children.

Steven’s passion for children’s advocacy steered him towards a career as a family law attorney. Throughout the course of his studies, Steven interned with the Mercer County New Jersey Juvenile Probation Office, Juvenile Drug Court; The Queens County Administration of Children’s Services; and the Center for Restorative Practices in conjunction with Suffolk County New York Probation.

After graduation from law school Steven served as law clerk to the Honorable Lawrence R. Jones, Judge of the Superior Court, Ocean County, Family Division. Through his clerkship Steven gained invaluable experience in relation to family law including divorce, domestic violence matters, custody and child support, and other related issues. As a clerk Steven also had the opportunity to serve as a mediator in Landlord-Tenant cases, and Small Claims Court.
