Michael Edward Damico

In my divorce case, my ex was negotiating in bad faith, running up my legal costs. I instructed Mike to cease all negotiations and work only on trial preparation. When we arrived for the trial date, I found that Mike had done no trial preparation and had continued to negotiate against my wishes, runn...ing up my bill. His actions harmed my case and ultimately delayed the settlement by many months. He also lied about the trial date, and when I arrived in court expecting a trial to begin, the judge told me that we were there for a settlement hearing and no trial date had been set. I fired Mike for cause, in front of the judge. according to New Jersey statute he should have refunded my retainer. Instead, he is demanding that I pay him thousands of dollars for the unauthorized work he claims he did, and is threatening to sue me. My experience with Mike is that he was a terrible counselor who was lazy, disorganized and not knowledgeable in either the details my case or the law. The settlement that he pushed me towards much less favorable than what I was able to negotiate as a pro-se litigant.

Mike Damico was very disorganized and unresponsible in dealing with my case, he delayed my case for months and always had some excuse for it. Please be aware of your dealing with this lawyer. They play well with Erika, do not pick up the phone, and do not answer emails. In my lawsuit case, they wr...ote incorrect numbers that have put me and my kids in a very bad situation, and when I’ve reached out they told me that there is no problem and they will file a cross-motion with the correct amount. So, the journey doesn’t stop there, the second time they filed a motion did not include 6 documents that were very important to this case which I’ve sent over. I was told that they would be sent to court separated from the motion, but what is not included in the motion is not discussed with the judge. The motions were sent to me after they were submitted to the court and then it was too late to correct them. But they however did not forget to bill me for their own mistakes. After 10 months we finally went to court, Damico was completely unprepared, when the judge was asking him, he was searching for the documents and gave short, poor answers without much information. In the middle of the trial, he said he had to turn on another zoom link and he was gone for 1 hour. After the trial I found myself in a worse situation than before, the percentages we shared for the children with the ex now are higher for me, the child support did not increase even a dollar, and nothing that Damico convinced me before that he would fix has been fixed. The trial was on December 17, Damico and Erika did not send me an order at all, on January 5th they sent me an invoice that I should pay them another $ 1,905. They don’t pick up the phone, don’t answer emails just send over bills without any result or accountability for their work and performances.

Terrible communication. I would not reccomend this Office to anyone. I have tried to get my file and an invoice that would show what Michael and his Staff did with the retainer. Was told over and over again I was going to get my file. I then get a letter in the mail saying I didn't want his represent...ation (never ever mentioned that and also I don't feel like it was representation as I'm in a worse situation then I was before in my opinion) and basically saying he will hand over my file once I sign a substitution of Attorney (aka not have him represent me). I am allowed access to my file as he was paid in full. Months keeps going by and nothing. I'll be adding more to my review once everything is settled because with reviews you must be careful as some people (not saying Michael) get upset at negative reviews and try to sue. I'll edit this review soon though.

This firm is absolutely terrible, their communication is poor. I have been trying to speak to Michael for weeks now about unresolved issues with my divorce that he caused with a mistake by him. He promised it would be handled the same or next day. But here I am over 6 weeks later and have yet to be ...able to get a hold of him, despite numerous promises by his staff via phone and email that he would call me. His office promised to keep me in the loop on all communication with opposing counsel, but failed to do so. In my opinion, he is a very unethical attorney who over promises, under delivers, has terrible communication and charges a pretty penny to do so.

I hired Mr. Damico for my divorce and custody battle. Since day one, Mr. Damico and his staff have been professional, sincere and understanding of my difficult situation. They have always kept me informed of the progress of my case and would return my calls/emails whenever I had any questions or co...ncerns. Mr. Damico would always put me at ease the day of court and would explain what was going to happen that day. In the courtroom, Mr. Damico is confident and aggressive in obtaining the best possible results for me and my son's well being. I am extremely satisfied with the outcome of my case. I have and will continue to recommend friends, family and co-workers.
