Posted by Allison | May 9, 2024 | Hired Attorney

This review is from a person who hired this attorney.

Horrible lawyer - completely destroyed my case - if you hire him, good luck getting him on the phone.

If I could mark this as a negative 10 I would. Attorney Powers took my retainer, assured me everything would be fine, etc etc etc. Then did ZERO work (which I learned about when he passed me to a new attorney 2 weeks before trial which I also learned was taking place on the same call). My divorce wa...s fairly black and white - had my attorney done his job. I turned all discovery materials around in a timely manner and he did NOTHING with them (while making it seem like he was doing something). Due to his total negligence, the court prevented me from entering certain evidence. Ultimately, I have to live with an outcome that can never be corrected, one that will impact my daughter's financial future forever (by way of hundreds of thousands in lost child support). Even in the 2-3 months since, he has completely ignored every email (though he is reading them), ran into my new attorney in court (promising he'd reach out so we could come to an agreement - if only to get my retainer back), he didn't even reply to a simple request for an apology. He does talk non stop, even more annoyingly when it's about his extremely expensive watch collection yet he's not paying me a cent back... No one "loves" lawyers, but this was beyond despicable (the judge who mediated over my divorce even made it clear to me that this was absolutely a case of legal malpractice). I put my life in his hands and he literally ruined it. I will be digging myself out of this mess for the rest of my life. Horrible experience, save yourself the anguish - hire anyone on the planet but him.

Hire this attorney

I hired Attorney Powers for a post judgement modification hearing. I WILL hire him again. He's smart, well informed, and gets the job done!! Michael Powers was referred to me and I'm so happy that we were able to work together. Hire this attorney with confidence that he'll do right by you and your... family. He even sent a check back for a portion of the unused retainer!!

I highly recomend attorney Michael Richard Powers

Over a period of about ten months, attorney Michael Richard Powers expertly staved off a potentially contentious lawsuit that had been threatened against selected officers and directors of a non-profit professional association (including me) involving a vexatious claim of libel and slander. His prep...aration included extensive research of the law, a thorough review of voluminous minutes; and he held numerous conferences with opposing counsel. He successfuly persuaded the potential litigant that the claim was without merit and was only intended to harass and intimidate his clients. The case, although lacking merit, posed significant personal liability for myself and other potential codefendants as the professional association's D & O insurance carrier had denied coverage.

Great lawyer

He was very good at answering my questions, and being very up front about my position.

Thorough and Sucessful Outcome

After a very long and thorough search on our behalf Michael was finally able to get the Banks and Title Search Companies involved to process and record that our Mortgage had indeed been paid off and that it was not an open item as shown by Public Record.
