Work is an important part of everyday life for almost all Americans. Knowing your value and obtaining that value is vital every day that we get up and go to work. We gain dignity and a sense of personal pride from the work that we do. We identify ourselves by what we do. We are able to raise families, help others, and see the world because of the work that we do. And because work is so essential and valuable to our identities as human beings, it is vitally important that we protect the workplace and the dignity of work while at the same time ensuring that we allow the workplace to flourish. Often there is a tension that arises between workers and employers. But ultimately employers and employees want the same things - success, accomplishment, and the ability to earn a good living.
