Attorney Kurt M. Ahlberg has been practicing law in Stratford, Connecticut for over thirty years. He specializes in elder law, which includes preparation of wills and trusts, powers of attorney, living wills, designation of health care agents, as well as probate of estates, conservatorships, probate litigation and Title XIX Medicaid planning and applications.
A product of the Stratford public school system, Attorney Ahlberg received his B.A. from Fairfield University, Fairfield, Connecticut in 1974, and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1977. He is admitted to all courts within the State of Connecticut and has lectured and given seminars on elder law issues within our community. He is a past member of a local panel of the State Grievance Committee, which oversees complaints against attorneys. An Assistant Town Attorney for over 15 years in the Town of Stratford, he is a member of the Elder Law sections of both the Connecticut and Great Bridgeport Bar Associations, and is an attorney/arbitrator/fact finder within the Superior Courts. In November of 2014, Attorney Ahlberg was elected Judge of Probate in the Town of Stratford, Connecticut.
Attorney Ahlberg is a life long Stratford resident, and continues to live in Stratford with his wife of over forty years, Kathi, they have three grown children and three grandchildren. He has been active in youth and civic affairs in Stratford for many years, including the Stratford Jaycees, The Stratford Red Cross and YMCA Boards of Directors, Stratford Little League, Sterling House Community Center basketball and soccer, cub scouts and girls' PAL Softball. He has also been active with the Stratford Republican Party, having served as Town Committee Chairman, District Leader, and as a delegate to numerous state and local conventions.
Attorney Ahlberg practiced with his father, H. Manton Ahlberg, until his death in 1990. In August of 2014, Attorney Ahlberg welcomed his nephew, Attorney Carl A. Glad to his practice. Continuing the tradition of family law, Attorney Ahlberg's firm has truly become a Family Practice.
His practice also includes real estate transactions, formation of business entities, contract disputes and some litigation.
